Grumble, grumble this morning. The rain is messing up the cable. Internet is slooooow and only the analog channels are fully viewable.

We're having that pleasant combination of freezing rain and sleet. Driving is pure joy.

There's this weight loss person on Regis at the moment (I never watch that show tbh) She suggested that you limit yourself to only one cocktail to keep the weight off. Kelly had this pouting look and then asked. "How about if you skip the second drink and go straight to the third instead?" :)

That works too. I know Anglo Large Clawed Otter was planning on making it too, and usually takes Metro to Downtown, so that's probably another reason we might want to stick to something in that area.

I'm up for just about anything there — Flying Saucer, La Carafe, others?

La Carafe sounds good. I think the weather is supposed to be pleasant tomorrow night, and they usually have the terrace open on Thursday Nights.

Had to gloat -

Just got a room at a Marriott in the DC metro area for $349 during the inauguration.

That is all.

Trying to plan a bachelor party for people spread across multiple continents gives truth to the phrase "you can't please everyone all the time..."

Scarily, a couple of those words I was thinking in French and started to type in English. Turns out my French isn't too bad at all. I can easily communicate with most the staff here, though I often ask them to repeat or slow down a bit.

I was pleasantly surprised with how much French I had retained from School-days when I was in Quebec. I am eternally thankful to my parents for ensuring that I learned Spanish before English, as it has made communicating in all other Romance Languages much easier. I can generally make my way through an Italian or Portuguese Newspaper and get the gist of the articles, without having formally studied either. I plan to do the same with any future children of mine.

VERY SMART PARENTS!!! BL JR is learning Spanish now, but I really want her to learn Mandarin so I can have a reason to write off her trips to China in the future ;)

It is not Florida or OU's fault that the current system has flaws

The current system is awful. Period. I am a firm believer in some sort of playoff structure - the school presidents and bowl committees need to step out of their bank vaults and start focusing on what is best for the game and the fans that support it. Can you imagine if they applied this BCS "system" to college hoops? Come on now!

Pity - I would have rented you my apartment for $1000/night. It's in a prime location, to boot.

So true. If we had a playoff, UT would be headed onwards to play USC/Utah and/or Florida/OU in the next round, and tOSU would be enjoying the rest of the playoffs from their couches. :)
