Those were the days. I remember when living in Miami the area code was and is 305. Disney World was 305 as well. Now, the county I grew up in, Broward, has two area codes assigned to it - 954 and 754.

I sure agree with that. We were there when the 201 was changed on us to 908 and then a few years later to that stupid 732.

We threw out so much stationery and business cards those years because of those d*mn changes.

That is a fact. Happens I had an extra I did not need and right now fozz is trying to figure out how to get it ported over to him. He can have it if what he came up with works.

We used to dial 4 numbers for any call in town:cool:

At what age to the red horns and the pointy tail appear?

I bought my first cell phone in a Bell Atlantic-NYNEX Mobile () store in Princeton in 1997. I've had the same 609 number since.

Good Morning Box

Luncheon today for the last day of a co-worker with 34 years. Another involuntary severance. It's getting to be a weekly event:(

The 321 area code was the first "vanity" assignment that was made. At the time the folks on the space coast really wanted it in a bid to have something cool to associate with the phone numbers in the region. Looks like it has gone down hill since then. I used to know the location of most area codes. I did OK learning many of the new ones for a while but there are too many now for me to keep track of.

I bought a couple lines for company cell phones back in 2005 from ATT and I was able to get 212 numbers. We gave them back after a few months when we were done testing the devices. I have a 212 from Vonage that I need to figure out how to port elsewhere.

G'morning, Box. Looking to be another day of  out there.

I have one of the online area code databases bookmarked, because, on occasion, my job involves calling people with bizarre area codes and I like to know where they are.

There's a funny old Calvin Trillin column that suggests that area codes are assigned on the basis of assigning similar codes (e.g., 718 and 818) on the basis of distance by someone he called the Far Away Man.

Umm, I seem to recall that occurring at that nebulous age called "puberty".

Good morning box, my number starts with 1-900 so I don't have to worry about area codes :p

Good Morning Box

This year marks the 10th anniversary of me having a sale phone and about the 8th anniversary of no home service. I did have to give up my first number from Vegas! :( Now I have a 405 (OK south), not happy but really don't want to change numbers.

In other news, had a friend in Europe and he got robbed. lost computer, camera, passport, and money. so sad. He was able to get his passport renewwed already. that is a good think as he comes home Friday and this must have happened yesterday.
