A Subway turkey on wheat is my go to food when I travel because they're everywhere, very consistent no matter where you are and doesn't involve anything fried.

Alyssa loves tomatoes and avocado. She gets either one of them on a daily basis. She also seems to like broccoli. ^ And her favorite fruits are grapes and blueberries.

You are raising a very health-conscious daughter - bravo!^

I can't imagine giving a teacher a $100 gift, let alone $200. Wow.

No kidding! Honestly, the handwritten personal notes mean the most by far to me - it's nice to know (or at least believe strongly) that something got through to a kid and perhaps they didn't hate every single minute of the experience...

My choir (and by that I mean the arts committee of the Parents' Association) gave me a $50 AmEx card after the spring concert. This was very much appreciated, as it went straight into the summer travel budget which is really looking scary (and I have only one non-obligatory trip, aka not a wedding or family function, in there as of now!).

I'm glad that you got some sign of appreciation -- I can appreciate that parents might not immediately think of the choir director, when it comes time to show appreciation!

I grew up with a mom that prepared gifts for all the teachers through grade school. I did the same thing w/my kids' teachers. In MS & HS -- it's generally the guidance counselors -- but I also have given gifts to the school nurse & the attendance lady (in the case of my son -- I figured out thatm for some reason, -- she didn't care for him! Amazing what a small gesture can do to change that -- of course he flashed the cute smile when he gave it to her!;))!

Wouldn't the same theory apply for paid internet access in the room? Lots of folks complain about that at full service properties. The simple economics say that you charge it if you can.

Anyone want a hoverboard from Back to the Future 2?

Behaviorally, it's why ritz and 4 seasons can charge for internet. Since the guests are already paring 400-1000 a night, 15 per day for internet is no big deal.

During the year, we've done little things for various people at the school; unfortunately, I've gotten to known the school nurse rather well. BL JR is making thank you cards for various teachers, various other staff members. Last week we had thank yous for her dance teachers; I found a blank card with girls in tutus and cowboy boots; pretty good for these parts!

I'm not getting up unless it's to move to another chair. Two people applauded when I got the shopping cart down the ramp successfully at the supermarket. I do wish the boy would drink water!

I have told her previously and told her in no uncertain terms yesterday that you don't pick out food that you are not going to eat! (She's especially good about bagging up produce that she has no intention of eating; she just likes bagging it up)

Produce does have a short shelf life. I do prefer to shop alone to mitigate the $ damages.
