I think I'm going to burn one for the Hotel Imperial and one for the Hotel Bristol (Vienna). Total redemption value should be around $750.

While it isn't nearly as lucrative as the free stays SPG is handing out, I did just eek 12,500 Marriott points out of the Plat line for my puny six stays last quarter. But with Mrs. Mackie in CLL three nights a week this summer and the trip to the Soccer DO combined with a two night stop in CLT afterward, I called in and got bounced up to the big boy, 40,000 bonus points.

Jebus, Ive been on the phone with CO for over an hour. They did a schedule change that effected one of my flights by almost 2 hours. This happens to be a DCA-IAH-ONT-IAH-DCA run where I will also be spending 4-5 hours on a bus so I'm not to happy about getting into DCA after 1 pm on a Sunday. Currently fighting for a IAH-EWR flight and if this doesnt work I think I'm going to cancel and refund.

For those of you who are on FB and running Firefox w/ Ad Block Plus (and if you have FF and aren't, shame on you), and you're concerned about the way FB now lets outside sites (e.g. Pandora, Yelp) access your FB data, copy and paste each of these into Ad Block Plus as a separate filter. Outside sites won't be able to connect you with FB, even if you are logged in to FB at the time.

Howdy Box. :-:
Probably not. Last time I looked at the TCO our car it cost about $0.50 a mile to drive it. Assuming that your car has a similar TCO, then you can figure a round trip drive is $1,170. That's about par for what CO is charging to fly 3 people, assuming that you don't value your time for the 14+ hour drive (or stop for a night in a hotel). :-: What may swing it in your favor is the cost of a rental car, assuming you were going to rent one (but not stop), but I know that I value my time enough to rent a car and not drive. :-: Anyway, all these assumptions that I making mean it's not a cut and dried calculation to put out there. :-: |

I would be driving a Honda Civic and not stopping for a hotel. I've done the drive from PHL-IAH (2 times) without stopping and one time with 2 overnight stops, and this would be a breeze. Figure about 3-4 fill-ups each way and stopping for food/bathroom, I should be good and cost less than $336 R/T. Plus, I wouldn't need to rent a car in FLL.:-:
