Just saw the kids off to prom. They do look lovely all cleaned up. :)

Apparently, I'm being tapped to replace a departing faculty member as a co-advisor to the class that will be seniors next year. One of my largest responsibilities in that role will be overseeing the planning of the prom.

I guess, since I'll be planning a wedding for just a few weeks after that, many of the things I'll have to get familiar with will be quite similar...

Our school now has both the Junior and Senior prom on school days and it's mandatory you report the next day. Post prom was pretty pretty bad here:td:

My plan to not purchase one last night inorder to win a larger lottery has panned out.

We only have one for both classes (it's a smallish school) and there are no classes for 11th/12th grade tomorrow. There's a fairly decent structure in place to minimize the potential for bad decisions - the kids all meet here at school and go to and from the event on buses, and when they return at night they must either check into their dorm or be signed out in person and driven home by a parent (theirs or someone else's).

Also, graduation is on Sunday and there's a zero tolerance rule for drugs/alcohol (one strike and you're out - it happened to a senior less than two weeks ago ). I should hope that would be enough of a deterrent. At this point, if the kids are getting in trouble afterwards, they're doing it at someone's house and it becomes a parental responsibility issue...which is a whole other story...

Mine was $77, but I did have some $40 options. I just want the National credits.

It looks nasty outside. I was going to take a ride to DSW for shoes but I will skip out on that and just finish up the laundry and pack for tomorrow.

My high school had a penchant for partying in Wildwood after prom. One year, the administration said anyone caught boozing in Wildwood would not be allowed to walk at graduation. A kid got busted, and what do his parents do? Hire a banner plane to overfly graduation with "This Bud's for you, Sean". Parental responsibility is a dead concept.

Jury duty all done. Civil case for pain and suffering from a car accident in 2006. Me wuz foreman. Weak case to start with but the plantiff's attorney was a complete idiot. Court clerk said afterwards on the street she'd represent herself in a trumped up death penalty case before using him. First you should prep your people, second you should discredit your own expert witness because you didn't prep them or provide them the info they need to do there job, and third when you object to a question by the defendants attoney and he rules in your favor and tells us to disregard the question and answer, don't use the question and answer as part of your closing statement.
