Bad and expensive.

Haven't stayed at the Marriott since the refurb, but if it's as bad as you say, it's not worth the price difference from the Rennaissance.

I think the nicest LHR hotel at which I've stayed was Jury's. It was cheap, too, via priceline or hotels.com, or wherever I got it. IIRC, it was only about a 10-minute walk to Hatton Cross with nice views of aproaches on the way. The Ren and Marriott have better views of the runways, though.

I imagine the hotel in T5 is pretty nice, though I have no experience with it.

The cooler rule is a per-person rule. Therefore each person in your party could bring their own cooler if you wanted. A 16 quart cooler holds approximately 20 beers.
Nice that they clarify this point. :D

Hi Box, greetings from Little Rock.

Does anyone have any dinner recommendations for this burg? I've only been here once and that was a decade ago for one night.

I just asked around the office and three people suggested Olive Garden.

Yes, and they enforce these very strictly these days. And, I would check again before you go to be sure they haven't uploaded a new set of rules for 2010. ;)

The lounge at the Ren was good too, but didn't make up for the overall craptasticness of the rooms.

The lounge was the best part of the Ren, especially since you can sit there and stare at Heathrow for hours.

Man versus food or diners drive ins and dives did a show in lit. Have a look to see where they went.

If you are in Little Rock, consider Whole Hog Cafe. Pretty good BBQ, in my view.

Unless you arrive at 11:00 pm and leave the hotel at 4:30 am, like I did, when not much action is taking place.

Thanks, I'll check that out. Either one usually features some good places.

This looks good, too. I'm surprised no one in the office here had a BBQ recommendation. This is one of the few places I've been too where people are not falling over each other to suggest local restaurants to me. I usually don't even have to ask. One of the first questions I get after I train someone usually has nothing to do with the product. It's normally something along the lines of, "So where have you eaten in town, do you need any suggestions?"

As I was arguing with one of the RCC matrons, the lounge dragon next to the one I was working with denied a RCC member a T Mobile card because he was just a RCC member, not flying UA C or F, another error. That guy didn't have the gumption to argue.

I did not have the time or inclination to call over a supervisor or escalate, and just went back to the LH SEN lounge, which is much nicer than the RCCs and IFL anyway. But, I do want to go back and call them out on their BS.

The Matrons at IAD do tend to think they own the place. Stick to your guns next time and hit ALL the lounges for drink chits and wireless cards....you can get a great collection going if you transit through ORD :D 5 lounges (including IFL) nets you a tidy 10 drink chits and 5 wireless cards.

I was going to do that at IAD, but I just stopped after the two failures because it wasn't worth it anymore. I thought they solved the issues with the dragons making up rules after that controversy with lucky9876coins.

Did you clear in advance or at the gate?

Yours is the first time I've heard of someone clearing one of two segments on a direct flight number with a stop in the middle. Was it listed as "IAH-ANC (1 stop)" on your receipt and PNR?

Cleared at the 3 hour window. The receipt was listed as:
Code:

FLIGHT INFORMATION
Day, Date        Flight        Class        Departure City and Time        Arrival City and Time        Aircraft        Meal
Mon, 17MAY10        CO223        K        ANCHORAGE -AK
(ANC) 12:45AM        HOUSTON BUSH INTL
(IAH) 12:09PM        757-300        Snack

After the upgrade cleared on the first leg, the PNR was split into two segments with an extra ~80 miles.

All times are GMT -6. The time now is 11:26 pm.
