ALCO, I believe you mentioned you have rented at the National location downtown. What kind of cars do you typically receive there? Are they similar to airport locations? Do you get any sort of choice between cars?

If you get hungry or thirsty use the phone to call someone. They will tell you "due to the short duration of the time that you're expected to be sitting in the phone booth, I am unable to provide you with anything. By the way, do you know a three letter word for candy?"

I'm trying to figure out why on the flight IAH-DAL we were offered water only service when it is longer than DAL-IAH and we were offered full cart service on that.

DAL is a horrible airport. How did it possibly win the JD Powers best airport? How does anyone in a wheelchair possibly handle the ramps going up?

+1. Skywest is my favorite of the UAX carriers. Of course, that's kind of like having a favorite proctologist - they all bend you over. Skywest just has small hands. :D

I'm sure ALCO wishes I was 2" taller too. That way he could laugh even more when we end up on a Saab or RJ flight together. I've flown two trips with the guy and provided him with much alcohol-induced laughter when it came to maneuvering around the midget planes.

I've yet to meet Teh Illustrious Otter, but he'd probably get a kick out of me in a CRJ as well, at about 6'3", 260. The only place I can stand is where the ceiling recedes a little for the exit row sign - and then I hit my head on the exit row overhead sign. He'd probably be rolling on the floor if he saw my 2006 flights after a few drinks - ~35 roundtrips in a CR2, 1 roundtrip in mainline equipment.

Argh, getting $Id$ to work in SVN was waaaaaaaaaay more painful than it should have been, thanks in no small part to my uncanny ability to fat finger things at the wrong time.

Choice is much more limited than what you get at the airport, and car types are extremely variable. Most recently received a Dodge Charger, have also received new Taurus, Buicks, Malibus, Maza 6, etc. It's a total grab-bag. The manager will attempt to accommodate requests such as Sirius Radio equipped, but it's not easy to obtain a specific car type.

I've flown the route often. It should be the full bar cart service, but there are flight attendants who don't care and just do water, or worse, nothing. What you experienced regarding beverage service is more a result of the FA you had on board not wanting to provide the service than any policy from CO.

I don't know how it won that award either. I like it since it's convenient and pretty fast to get in and out of. But the place shows its age, and, while there was a time a decade ago it still had a lot of funky 1950s and 1960s charm, much of that has been stripped out and replaced with cheap renovations. Those ramps are annoying, and a wheelchair bound passenger would likely require a pusher to navigate them safely.

DAL is rebuilding the concourse facilities, in a manner similar to what has been done at HOU over the last decade. Eventually that project should do a lot to modernize the facilities there, but for now, it's still very old, and not very nice. But it sure is convenient, depending on what your destination is in the Dallas area.

Cal, at age 90, is still doing commercials here in So Cal.

Thanks! Assuming the rain from Alex doesn't kill our weekend plans, I may need to pay a visit to this National location.

Because of that I'm debating whether or not I want to go walk down the street to get lunch.
