The SPG AMEX comes with Preferred Plus status, not Gold. The biggest difference is Preferred Plus gets the standard 2 points/$ while Gold gets you 3 points/$. Spending $30k on the SPG AMEX will get you Gold.

I believe some AAA memberships also secure Preferred Plus.

Tis a noble effort, this. I don't know yet if it is truly possible, especially given that there is some other wedding stuff that I'm paying for solely OOP. Debt-free was always the mission, but I'm not sure if the honeymoon will be totally included. This whole thing of caring about my financial health is somewhat new to me.
