I'll trade my ERJs, 733s, and 735s for your 738s.

I doubt I've gone nine flights in the last four years without setting foot on any of those three aircraft types. I'm not sure I've gone even six flights without one of those.

The LHR Clubhouse is spectacular! I almost did not want to leave, but my pod was calling me for the flight to EWR....

:)

I can't wait to go back ^

Looks like I've got a case of the Mondays.

Missed my EUA this morning coming back into EWR. I was relegated to a middle seat in whY.

After I wrestled my way through security I contemplated stopping by the gate to see if I could swap my middle seat for an aisle or window from one of the two people that were about to be upgraded (I was 3), but, seeing as I don't deal well with people before 9am, I decided against it and to just let sleeping dogs lie.

Upon boarding a gentleman comes back and there's a "you're in my seat" conflict. The guy says, please, take mine - it's 4B. I was upgraded, but I want to sit with my wife.

BAHHHHHHHHH.

Had I gone to the counter and asked for this guy's aisle seat I would have been the "dupe seat dude" and I would have gotten the EUA. -sigh-

My seat in coach wouldn't have been terrible if I hadn't been flanked on my left by someone with the bladder of a 90 y/o female (he wasn't 90 or female) and to my right by someone who did not fit in that seat. One of the two (I'm guessing bladder boy) was also letting loose with a healthy amount of crop dusting.

The gentleman that didn't fit in the seat was being obnoxious with his girth and after he jabbed me for about the 10th time with his elbow I jammed the arm rest down into his thigh (he was a solid 2" into my seat, therefore the armrest was up). He glared at me and said "whatchyadoin" and I said "trying to get comfortable, but you're making it rather difficult."

In retrospect, I should have realized a royal rumble wasn't in anyone's best interest but thankfully the guy realized that my whack with the armrest was purely a defensive maneuver and he backed off.

The only good part of the flight was that we docked in the C terminal in the 80's so my Dunkin' procurement was easy. Too bad it's 15 degrees out.

I cruised out of EWR and flew up the turnpike. I decided, since I was early, to take 1/9 to stop and get some cheap Jersey gas. Filled up my tank for sub $20 (Premium, too) and hop back on 1/9. And then stopped. And then sat.

It took over an hour to move 1 mile. So now I'm running late to my deposition. Very late.

I hop on the [you down with] PIP and got pulled over. 73 in a 50. I hand the officer my PBA card, along with my license and registration. Unimpressed by my PBA card (damn Park police) he asks where I'm off to in such a hurry.

Stupid me says I have to answer a subpoena, which I guess is secret cop language for "get the tazer ready, we got ourselves a live one."

After about 10 minutes of some 'splaining that I was a witness to something, and not involved in the commission of a crime, a search of my car, and a lecture he let me go without a ticket or a formal warning (I disappointed him).

I exited the PIP and get behind a garbage truck. That's almost as bad as a school bus. Ugh.

Did I mention it's 15 degrees out?

Someone commented that one of the gas jokes might be in violation of the FT TOS and I informed them that they had not moved anywhere near the depths of poop and gas found over here, so they could forget that thought.

This was followed closely by my passing on an invitation to a Delta party in NY to some of the local Box denizens whom I thought might be interested, which denizens came over and posted a few things there. This was duly noted by Canarsie in his ponderous writing style which could in fact be interpreted as having a cranky tone although I can assure all that it should not.

If there was some intention of setting up a competing CO Lounge thread, I heard nothing of it. I have participated over there regularly since its inception and have met most of the steady posters many times It is most likely that I would have heard something like that although I have had a secondhand whiff that one of the CO mods (who shall remain nameless) did not like what was going on here and that there had been some mod discussion (which went nowhere) about shutting it down.

Reactions/comments:

1. Someone (regardless of their home forum) really thought a fart joke was a TOS violation? Seriously?

2. The conclusion I reached was solely due to the presence of some of the more prolific DL people here that aren't in this corner of the Net normally. Apologies for any overthinking that may have occurred.

3. CO and DL most notably, but other airline fora have a singular just-for-fun thread about nothing...hell, BA has a forum about nothing. Last time I was in there, it was almost all off-topic and UK politics.

That LHR Clubhouse ranks up there with the best in the world that I have visited. Those would include the LH FRA FCT and the KE FC Lounge at ICN.

The only knock that brings the Clubhouse down to third on that list is that people actually bring children onto VS Upper Class while FC on KE and LH are always IME child free, making their Lounges much more relaxed and elegant felling.

They all seem to be great when we compare them to our domestic
CO and DL lounges.
The new SQ lounge at SIN T3 is great , and the SYD QF lounge was pretty good .
I have never been to the KE lounge so I can't comment, and I will get to see the FRA FCT in January after the BRU DO
Im looking forward to that :D

Yeah, I know. Same here. And I remember scoring IAH-SFO/LAX upgrades in summer 2001 and 2002 as a Silver on the 762 as well.

Granted my first full year as a OnePass Silver Elite was 2002, and travel was still way down from 9/11, but my 2001-2002 upgrade percentage as a Silver flying out of IAH is still better than many Platinum Elite's current upgrade rate for 2008 by a long shot.

I remember getting upgrades as a Silver on IAH-LAX on a 764.

The difference between the Delta Lounge thread and this one (and the Miles & More Lounge thread) is that one has a substantial number of contributors who do virtually no traveling. Therefore you will find hardly any insight at all into the traveling process there as you will in the others.

The only reason that I actually do go over to that thread is that I know almost all of the people who were there for years. That was before the Israel-Hezbollah conflict when many googlers were directed over to FT and ended up there when the conflict observation thread was closed.

As far as the BA Forum is concerned, will somebody please tell me what is a Mucci?

The EWR CH is not as nice as the JFK CH (unless they have redone it recently).

Have not been to the new SQ lounge at SIN, only to the old one which was just OK.

The SYD QF lounge almost made the cut when I was listing the top few I had visited but I had only been there at an off hour when there were no International flights going out so I did not get a look at the restaurant and catering. But the beer is very good (try the Cooper's unfiltered).

Sounds like CLE at off-peak hours, like 10:45 am. I recently made it from curbside to P Club in six minutes - dropoff at the departure entrance directly in front of security, OLCI boarding pass, and one person ahead of me in elite security line, and brisk walk up the concourse. Did the same thing in the same amount of time at DCA the other day.
