I never was very lucky about using my CO miles (for flights) but the lack of an expiration date was terrific for my kids miles. A while back I sent well over 100K CO miles to Amtrak and managed to get a new computer and all my x-mas gifts that year in a pathetically financially tight year for me. Still I will be sad when they aren't around anymore. I only started flying UA recently and did rack up a lot of miles but all the planes I flew were very old. Lack of competition probably won't help in that department.:(

+1, just be smart about it and credit cards can be your friend ;) Ive certainly milked a number of them then got a home loan and just started again.

Twice in my life, I've taken large 0% cash advances. These coincide with the last two market run-ups ^

Sounds like you are headed in the correct direction! I find it wonderful to have essentially everything auto-charged to my CC and the miles I earn are a real ^^

I spend Andrew Jackson (173 years) everywhere credit cards aren't accepted - got the miles once for buying the coins.

Didn't go to the Spam folder either.

! I didn't get one either. I am not complaining, since I never used the gift from last year, and was granted status I did not quite earn in 2009.

! I have not flown LH F, but unless you need the miles for something else, F > C, LH > UA, and nonstop > changing planes at ORD.

! Doesn't matter; that's poor taste and poor discipline on their part.

! I only recently achieved that level of mental clarity. Making sound financial choices is also something that is relatively new to me.

! Everything that was possible to be achieved in its entirety on my to-do list today was achieved. That too is something relatively new to me.

For those who work within the Mint's constructs, yes.

A "heavy" month for me now involves $2,000 in coins.

I find the need to go to a cash machine about once every 3 months (which corresponds to a trip to AC). Not only do I essentially never pay cash when I dine with others it's always on my card. I'm still amazed that people pass up essentially a free trip a year or certainly a free hotel stay or two with regular spending by not using their CC.

I'm OK with Borders - I redeem eRewards for Borders about as often as I'm allowed.

So it's still possible to buy a modest amount and spend them each month without triggering a warning bell? Can you still get the free shipping with a $500 order?
