Seriously though...we begin planning in earnest for the next Austin Mega Do this weekend...Mackieman, Mrs. Mackieman, TexasYankee, and myself are making a fact-finding trip to Snow's BBQ in Lexington this weekend for that very purpose. It's a tough job, but someone has to do it. :D

Stay away from the Sheraton. We stayed there and it was nothing special, at all.

Thanks. I knew enough from your comments and other posts I've seen here to stay away from that one.

Hello, Box.

Still no word yet from South Florida gig, but I'm heading off to Asia next week for an interview to potentially work for one of the *A member carriers based there. I'm not going to chance getting stuck in Europe on account of the Iceland volcano, so I'm going TPAC (in Coach) on this one.

The Hilton Hawaiian Village is one of my favorites. It has it's own beach and large pool area. It's at the beginning of Waikiki near the military beach area.

Thanks! I was looking at the Hawaiian Village as well. It's a possibility especially if they'll let me use the free night certificates from the first and second quarter Hilton promos.

The Moana Surfrider is one of the oldest hotels on Waikiki. It's an older historic property, with newer additions as well.

Yeah, it's pretty sad. Sure, the promo is a step back from what was offered last year (free night after 2 stays), but they're still giving something for "free". If someone doesn't like it, they should move on to another hotel program and not bash the SPG marketing group. :-:

I couldn't remember how many stays it took last year. Still, a free night after three paid stays isn't bad at all. It should cover us for a weekend trip or two later this year.

I certainly hope you've hardened that water. :D;) With a brick perhaps.

I liked HHonors a lot (a decade ago).

HHonors used to be an amazing program. I miss the old threshold bonuses, quarterly profile update bonuses, frequent promotions that were really good, much lower overall redemption rates, and the redemption rates that gave you a discount for longer stays. Also, back in those days you could generally find point saver awards without too much hassle too. The pre-2002 HHonors program was really great for both earnings and redemptions. At least now with the higher redemption rates they are running promos again, and I've been fine with hotel hopping and getting certificates good for a year for a free night at virtually any property. But I'm not really going out of my way to give them business either. Starwood is getting a lot more of the business I would have given Hilton in the past. I'm mostly using Hilton for the small town stuff where I can.

Managed to fire off two resumes today. Fingers crossed.

In other news, I think I'm going to go get a pressure gauge and measure the water pressure in the house myself. $10 for that beats a lot more later on if I don't actually need to regulate the pressure.

What's up Box?! I haven't been on FT in weeks but I thought I'd pop in to say hello. Since I've been here, Ms. Gadfly and I went to Arizona for 10 days to visit my folks, I went to a trade show in Boston for a week, I went to Chevy Chase, MD for a couple days, and we're getting ready to leave for Seattle by train on Sunday. I'll try to poke my head in once in a while while we're en-route but it could be difficult.

I'm sure I've missed dozens of milestones, and hopefully some positive job announcements. Hope everyone's well.

I went over and showed my support of the promo as it is way better than anything HH ever comes up with.

To its credit, the Hilton promotion for a free night after four stays isn't bad. It's also a more flexible free night than the Starwood one, as the Starwood night is only good on weekends. The Hilton promotion also gives you a free night certificate that has a full year of eligibility. So I don't have a problem with Hilton requiring an extra stay for a more flexible free night promotional certificate than what Starwood is requiring.

I only wish it started April 15 since I have three different stays before May 1 :(

Same here. I've got at least two stays between now and May 1 that would qualify.

It amazes me that I'm even considering patronizing SPG given my 0-for-39 streak of employment application failures with your company.
