I agree (assuming they even get to that point). If, by some miracle, it did go through, can you imagine the labor disasters that would result?

I earned an extra 12k points, or the equivalent point redemption for the night, for the hotel's "mistake". Not bad for a $79 room (after Costco certificate).

Cool!^

NY Times: United and US Airways Said to Be in Merger Talks

Their writing is worse than mine....

There have also been recurring strategic doubts about how well the two airlines fit together. A combination of the two carriers would end up with a large number of a multitude of hubs, including United’s operations in Chicago, Denver and at Washington Dulles International Airport. For its part, US Airways has hubs in Las Vegas, Phoenix and extensive operations in the Washington area.
Good thing US doesn't have hubs in CLT or PHL. Or UA's in SFO. Not to mention the strange structure of "a large number of a multitude of hubs."

It won't go through unless they get the unions to agree in advance. US hasn't managed to integrate the US and HP pilot unions yet. I cannot see how they'll get the UA pilots involevd and simplify the negotiations.

Is the labor side of the equation focused enough to fight it effectively? The US and UA labor unions are too busy demanding the heads of their own executives.

Fixed it for you.

Then, somehow the next night, I either lost Flat Kenny or he ran away. I was so embarrassed.:o:eek::o Fortunately, I had enough material for a substantial powerpoint show on Kenny's exploits.

Uh-oh! Glad it all worked out -- in the end!;)

But it's the newspaper of record. They are not allowed to be insulted in such a way.
