You are correct on that. Vodka, esp in winter, is the thing there.

Have you tried Kvass in any of your journeys? It can make a mean cucumber soup(and I don't even like cucumber!)

Still not enough to convince me to go for status, though certainly nice for the folks who go for the status.

Yep. Poznan was great. Nice Sheraton property there, too (a recurring theme in Europe, I've found). I'm glad I only spent a day, though. The Old Town is fairly compact, and you can see everything in a day. The Cathedral, BTW, is the most beautiful I've ever seen (puts what I've seen at The Vatican to shame).

I have also found Sheratons in Europe to be far nicer than the Sheratons in the US. Look forward to seeing you pictures of Poznan...

Sounds like we don't even need to consider Poland for our MLK 2011 trip. :)

Using Poland and beer in the same sentence is oxymoronic.

ETA: Apparently, they do have a brewing industry: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beer_in_Poland

Yeah, I'm hoping this will finally push Marriott over the edge and make them offer it as a Plat amenity at check-in.

^ That's awesome!

I'm wondering if they're already starting to roll it out. My last couple of stays in a W, the Internet charges never appeared on my bill.

I'm really hoping this one is a miss... I've had enough of the snow.

Several of the other weather sites are forecasting it as a rain event for part of the weekend... *fingers crossed*

I see that problem on occasion on normal connections let alone UMA.

I only had the problem with a BlackBerry when it was on UMA. Take it off UMA and it worked fine. I've never had it happen on my non-UMA Android phone.

I thought that Finland would be the same, after being very disappointed in the beers available in Norway. Surprisingly, Helsinki had some incredible microbrews. Still not worth $10 a pint, though.

That would be nice. For work stays, I'll just take the points and expense the Internet. But for non-work stays, where I'm paying, it would be nice to be able to elect free Internet, something Hilton has offered as a choice for years now.

Looking forward to my "stay" here on Friday for only 37.61 AI:

I'm starving and there's no food in the house to speak of, and my partner drove to work today so I'm carless. I think a call to our Chinese delivery place is about to be made.

I still think Salzburg would make for an Epic Beer DO locale. The Bräustübl Tavern is located in a monastery where they've been making the beer for 100s of years. The beer itself is phenomenal, and extremely strong. The main drinking hall is ringed by stands where they sell traditional Austrian/Bavarian foods (meat on sticks, sausages of every variety, heavy pastries, all manner of kraut, etc.).
