Compensation?????
On a 12+ hour flight my B/F seat did not work. Reclined somewhat but no leg rest etc. It would not even return to an upright position.
I have just received the "compensation" offered by CO: a $50 voucher for a CO flight.
This is outrageous and even insulting.
Does anyone have an email to the head of Customer Service or maybe the COO of CO.
I can't believe that CO actually considers this fair compensation on a B/F ticket.
Any help greatly appreciated.

In fact, there have been other threads started by YOU on this topic, recently even. Was this a seperate incident, or the same one?

Dear All,
Yes I had another thread but this is a new development.
In any case what's with you all?
In all the forums I am involved in this seems the most churlish of all.
I guess you are in the same catagory as a $50 voucher for a 12+ hour trip.
You all and CO belong together.
Thanks for the help.

If this really is a multiple occurance, put together all the flights where this was a problem and try to go some action from the fact that you're having consistent bad experiences. Just don't ask the same people the same question again and expect to be let in on some super-secret handshake. Geez.

alot of it depends on what you wrote and how you wrote it. Did you specify what you thought you should receive back? Most people dont spell it out cause they are afraid that maybe the Carrier, Hotel etc would have offered them more then what they asked for and then feel disappointed. What they dont realize is they can also be short changed if they dont specify anything.
Did you get an FA to write it up for you? Did you hand an FA a comment card?
Im sure CO didnt let you sit in that seat cause it wasnt working properly. What did/do you feel you should receive in return? Did you pay for the BF seat with $$ or miles? It does matter. If you were OPed UPed I feel that the $50 is too much. You really didnt give us enough details, and then cause you dont like what some posted you kick the sand and run away, now thats being an Adult alright.
I do believe that you feel you are entitled to nothing short of a free one-way. No way. If you used miles at most 15,000 which is 100,000 BF r/t TLV-USA - 70,000 = 30,000 (thats reg BF - Coach for a r/t then divide that in 2 since it happened only 1 way = 15,000 Max) if you cashed in an anytime award then its 2x on the miles. From that 15,000 that can take off some since you did eat the better meal and have a seat that wasnt working correctly but was still better then a coach seat.
If you paid then you would have to work-out the #s that way. ive been in your situation (not on CO) a few times and if you think you'll be laughing all the way to the bank, Forget about it. Especially today no carrier is gonna fork over what they did yrs ago- a free tkt or its equivalent.
Its really not possible for anyone to tell you what you should have gotten till you inform us on the details of your tkt.
So as I said could be under certain conditions that the $50 was way too much or a Joke
PS I just saw the other post by the OP which answers most of my questions above. As for getting the $500 Voucher unless he has it in writing doesnt look too good.

I'm not sure what the OP is looking for here, but I have been guilty of posting multiple times when it is warrented. For example, if it is a situation with a CO-codeshare with KL or DL, I might post a similar, but not exact question in their forums. Getting answers from a CO perspective, and the forum that has the metal allows me to get the perspective of both.
As for the OP's question, I must agree with craz, please tell us more about the situation. If you UG'd, than I think that the $50 is adequate.
I UG international from time-to-time, and I do expect the same service as the revenue pax...but I'm like a fat girl at prom...I'm just happy to be there.
If you paid for the ticket, than I definitely think that you deserve more. However, a nice letter to CO, along with a copy of your ticket and itenerary might do you some good. Just be sure to include more information than you gave us here. Good Luck.

I once was not satisfied, and to be honest, wanted to test CO to see how far they would go over something stupid. I sent her a letter via FedEx. Got a phone call the next day from a rep. Their generic appology letter I recieved days earlier was now "Mr. Marrone, we would like to offer you a $200 travel voucher." Good luck man.

Damn!
Damn J.Edward! How does a sophomore in college have $900 and 50,000 to cash in on any trip?

But, should the seat not work I'd expect a refund of the oneway miles and the upgrade fee as the "integrity-protected" BF product did not deliver in it's entirety and CO did not deliver fully on their promise (a 170 degree recline). If CO expects me to keep my side of the deal ($450 + 25,000 miles for a one way upgrade) my expiation is they uphold theirs (a full BF experience). Good one!

Details
Here are my details of the broken seat flight:
I paid $2800 ++ for this trip. But as has been stated IF I had paid mile it should be the same. Them miles themselves were paid for.
I reported it to a FA - I had to as they had to manually fix the seat so we could land. In addition for most of the flight the seat back was down a few degrees - slightly better for flying and not nice for eating.
I am a LH *A Gold/Senator and have flown 200,000 this year so I'm not a novice either with flying or B/F or what to expect.
I was "comped" CO Gold and enjoyed the flight in many ways and the President's Club on my many internal flights. I'd consider CO for my USA flights but not like this.
At first I thought the $50 voucher was for the broken IFI on the return flight and the absolutly terrible movie choices they had.
The FA's were alll nice and helpful and I always compliment good service by name as I did on these flights.
Thanks for the name, I have a manager's name from Newark but I'd really like a phone or fax or email number if anyone has it.
I live in JER and mail especially at this time of year can take 2-4 weeks.
Thanks for the help and understanding.

In as much as you were on a paid tkt, getting back any miles as I suggested is out. What you need to figure is how much CO should send you, if they do it'll probably be a voucher towards a future flight. max i would think you might if Lucky get a $500 voucher which would bring the fare of the flight to a very high Coach price. $1400 each way for a Z is what you paid. I dont know what anyone has received in the past but not having a proper working seat in BF is Major in my book.
I dont suggest speaking to them, since you are in JRS I think faxing them would be a better idea. Make sure to specify what you want in compensation and why you feel that you are owed it.
Let US know what happens.

Answer on the way
I emailed the international concierge who came on my plane in EWR and made the reasonable offer.
He has emailed back and said he's sending the $500 voucher to me.
Will take some weeks to get here but trust it will make it.
Am I satisfied? Yes and no.
Remember $2800 paid ticket; half of trip seat doesn't work; insulting $50 voucher.
I will use the voucher and fly CO at least one more time internationally.
Will I continue to fly CO?
I don't know.
It's convienent but expensive and they have at least one good concierge.
High marks to you Mr Goodwin for knowing what "Customer Service" is all about.
