Was supposed to be today. AKWxMan needs to explain himself. :p

Aren't you going to FL soon? Why are you complaining? :D

...Anyone wanna go fly a kite? :D

jackal Jan 15, 2009 3:18 am

I'll guarantee you beckoa's prancing around in shorts...

Of course, if wind picked up enough to fly a kite, the kite would probably drag you along the super-slick icy ground. Probably not a good idea... :p

It's raining in the parking garage. Not a pretty sight.

First post updated with beginnings of information about the June 21 Solstice Do.

BOB W, are you up for another round of brisket or other delectable delights a su casa?

missydarlin is NOT allowed to skip this one! (You gonna be in the Midnight Sun Marathon?)

Please let us know if you're interested in coming. If there is sufficient interest, perhaps we can plan some activities and turn this into an official DO! :)

If there's no spectacular fare then (ANC-SEA-ANC for $99 rt) I'll be there :p

Was it not agreed to have it at casa BillScann (or however that would be said in spanish) :p

I'm up for a DO, but based on my conversation at ANC Spring Break Do I thought we were shooting for 2010. The group wasn't sure about 2 trips to ANC the same year.

I Spoke to MD and she mentioned the MAyor's Marathon 2010.

Perhaps we should look at two DO's. Cool!!!!

It doesn't take a DO for me to do brisket, but it helps :D ;)

Ah, yes! I had forgotten. Bill, your silence on this matter constitutes your acceptance. We are having it at your house, so expect us to be knocking down your door in three months!

Yes, monitor and Frannie did indicate they would consider coming back in 2010, and while any DOs without their gracious presence would ostensibly be with considerably less revelry, we can still do something.

vysean indicated interest in returning for an event this summer, so even if it's just us locals plus him (though hopefully others will join!), we can still have fun! :D

And nothing's stopping us from doing Solstice 2010, too!

Interested folks, please see the Doodle links in the first post on page 1 to mark what days you're available and interested! :)

Bill is having a PM moment. He's mad because Redoubt blew & AS didn't charter a flight for him to fly around the ash. He should be back next week. I hope he made it to his final destination and returns safely.

I'll start practicing on brisket when I get back from LAS in a couple of weeks.

If you're in LAS, you should be taking the three hour detour south to stop by my place. I don't cook anything, but I'll be happy to take you out for some great Mexican and/or for a tour of our local brewpubs and vineyards (yes, even in dusty and dry central AZ we do have vineyards).

As for the solstice - I will be there - just debating on which airline I arrive (AS, AA, or US are options). I'll even be bringing wine along so that you all can further educate me. :p

I'm trying to convince others to go as well, but flights are not exactly inexpensive, so it's going to take more effort on my part... ;)

PM me directions. I'll see what I can do. 6 hours on the road may be a stretch thought.

vysean--Great! Just noticed you updated the Doodle. I'm going in as we speak and adding a couple of options to the Where one. Be sure to check it and update it! :)

Of course, anyone with other ideas, post them here or let me know and I can add those in!

Hmm... solves the debate jackal and I were having @ AZ wine... :D

I thought AZ would have some kinda wine... do they make Cactus wine at all? (possibly from the cactus fruit?)

And for flying up... AS of course! ^ More flights - especially if Redoubt stays irregular... :(
