Yeah. That's what I meant. I'll never have any trouble finding it even if I can't read street signs.

Course I knew that but we actually have a 4th Street Station in my home town, that''s why the brain lag.

Ah, yes--thanks for the reminders! Both are excellent.

On the subject of Big Al's, I've now eaten there five or six times (three days in a row before I left on my trip! ), and I'd agree wholeheartedly with Bob's assessment. They are almost as good as Wings 'n' Things. In fact, there are so many similarities between them (the kind of meat they use, the consistency of the sauce, the style of the cheesesteak sandwiches, etc.) that I have to believe the owner or someone used to work at W&T, although the wing sauce isn't exactly the same.

But at least it assuages my occasional (oh, all right, more than occasional) craving for good wings...

Several of the people that worked at Wings & Things now work at Big Al's. They are getting very close on the sauce for the wings. At first it had too much chili powder, but that's been dialed back. We'll have to try it again when you return.

aah... wings n' things... the memories...

I've been fortunate to talk to several people 'in the know' about these places, (they like to frequent my current employer) and have learned a few things about what is happening...

Wings n' Things is indeed gone... didn't get the real reason out of the person I was discussing with... sounds like they may have gotten tired, but the recipe lives on, and is still being used in someone's private kitchen. The name and recipe was sold, and as of September a new Wings & Things was to open in the 'next 6 months or so'... the person I talked to said they couldn't wait for it to reopen.

Last week I talked with who I believe to be the proprietor of Big Al's Wings & Wings and he handed me a menu... I really didn't ask if there was a connection to Wings n' Things... I brought it home and it wandered for a few days... then I saw this thread and wondered in my head... where did the menu go? I searched a bit and finally discovered it was buried in our recycling pile... and am now getting quite 'ungry looking at it... they even have a teri berger!

And jackal, I owe you a triple portion of Volcanic wings upon your arrival in ANC ... what the heck- we might even upgrade it to a Bucket Portion

It's at the corner of Spenard and Minnesota--well, three or four buildings down Spenard on the left, almost directly across from the crematorium next to Thrifty Car Rental. It's the old Wee-B's. From one greasy spoon to another!

Bob, you've got my mouth watering almost enough to want to come home early...but sorry! I'll take crocodile and kangaroo meat over wings for the next month! (Honestly, though, I am ready for some good, fattening Western food after a nonstop diet of fairly-healthy-and-cheap-but-sometimes-less-than-filling southeast Asian food...rumor has it there's a Taco Hell in SIN...)

beckoa, I'll stick with the mediums, thank you very much. Hots are enjoyable for a few minutes but not much more...not sure I can stand the volcanics. I know, I'm a whimp...

OK, time for my next HIST 132 quiz on BlackBoard...TTFN...

Did you guys actually make it to Humpy's, or did you just meet each other at the breakfast?

We're here in (foggy) ANC; cloud deck is so low we didn't enter it until about 2 miles from the end of the runway. Really nice trip up on AS 85; very uncrowded and we popped for a paid upgrade (yeah, I know, what am I doing - but we were on award travel so no other possibility at the time). Really attentive flight crew who were wonderful to my daughter and me both.

Tired from the 0430 wakeup call for RDM-SEA on QX

First... the 'friends thing' is a new social aspect of the website... really don't know much more... but you did find the link so

Wine tasting was great- 3 whites & 5 reds... pouring lots- 1/2 glass per wine- but had to find my way home that night... so I trimmed back the size greatly for latter amounts past the first 2... so 'all in' maybe 2 glasses worth... very good and I think I discovered I like whites better then reds... (also was mildly scolded for saying a particular white had too many tanons in it... for whites- its called 'dryness' supposedly I'll get the hang of it eventually! )

So I got to stay and watch the election coverage/ debate (on a bigger screen then at my house)

The full day was a little long though- had too much coffee in the morning and was feeling it when I hit Costco and the MVPG lunch that day... and it was a little redundant for some of the discussion, but the Q&A was good, and interesting to see how it was mixed up...

C'mon up to Moose's Tooth Sat night! (I know... FT 2 times in a week)

Glad to see ya had a couple good flights - interesting to hear @ weather too... around Fort Richardson it was clear... otherwise ANC foggy all day... was wondering on how high it was...

As far as what you were doing... helping AS' bottom line, and they thank you for it (with 50-150 miles depending on the BoA CC)
