On the subject of Big Al's, I've now eaten there five or six times (three days in a row before I left on my trip!
), and I'd agree wholeheartedly with Bob's assessment. They are
almost as good as Wings 'n' Things. In fact, there are so many similarities between them (the kind of meat they use, the consistency of the sauce, the style of the cheesesteak sandwiches, etc.) that I have to believe the owner or someone used to work at W&T, although the wing sauce isn't exactly the same.
But at least it assuages my occasional (oh, all right, more than occasional) craving for good wings...
Several of the people that worked at Wings & Things now work at Big Al's. They are getting very close on the sauce for the wings. At first it had too much chili powder, but that's been dialed back. We'll have to try it again when you return.
