I am probably going to make it to SIN again for the 08 Do.
No Signboard Seafood again sounds good. ^

I am attending this DO the first time. Is there any schedule, what events are planned ?

Still looking

for a reasonable fare on SkyTeam anywhere out of the US.

Everything is like $1500.00. Yet there are standard PerkSavers available from MSP for 60000 miles. So I may have to resort to that but would much rather start stacking up miles for 2008, and flights to SIN can sure help that.

If anyone runs across a decent SkyTeam fare for this Do, I'd sure appreciate hearing about it.

Thanks. :)

Same boat here. I didn't get my ticket until 12/22/06 for this year's SIN run. Just happened to book it at the same time as the SIN DO. Hope to do the same for Jan 08. Just being patient hoping for a price break.

Thanks to szg for coming up with the list. I incorporated it into post #4 and will keep it updated. I have been so overloaded.

There will be a dinner Saturday evening probably at the No Signboard Seafood. They have 5 locations. Last year we did Esplanade. In the previous years we did the Geylang location. I think we did East Coast Park location a few years ago. Please discuss the pros and cons of each and some people already have. I will try to set up a poll for convenient voting as the time draws nearer. The dinner price has been about S$50-60 (US$35-40) for a huge array of food and a reasonable amount of drinks. In most western countries this meal would cost you 2-3 times this amount.

On Friday evening there will be a midnight snack at La Pau Sat (The Old Market). Saturday and Sunday are usually for individual and group sightseeing tours. We need volunteers to lead that. If you really want to be a tourist you have to have a Singapore Sling from the Long Bar at the Raffle's Hotel .

And I was one of those LAST YEAR who voted in favor of this location. I have always had good luck there with small groups, but unfortunately, as violist has mentioned upthread: they did not seem up to the task for our larger group.

This appears to be one of the leading contenders based on comments made thruout the thread as well as comments heard at the actual dinner last year.

That was several years back and may be as far back as SIN DO I. We ate at Jumbo. It seems to me that it was good, altho the group was 'reasonably' small. Perhaps only 10-14 people.
Another thing that I recall is that the EC location requires a "bit" more planning as its not as readily accesible to all as is the Geylang location of NoSignboard.

Best, Dave

Dinner

For my money Geylang is the place to go. East Coast is a little too difficult to get to and Esplanade IMHO is too small.
I vote for Geyland.

Thanks,

Boris

Please put me as maybe.

I will have tons of SWUs to burn :p, so it's very doable. I just need to find out where I will be leaving from...:)
