Regarding late Friday at Lau Pa Sat...

I'm coming in on the same HKG-SIN flight as MKE-MR and bseller. I have to meet up with violist, so I'm definitely in for Lau Pa Sat.

bseller I'm fine with either Saturday dinner option, although if I had to choose, I'd pick Jumbo.

Edited to add: Will anyone else be around on the 22nd? I'm leaving on the UA SIN-HKG-LAX flights on the morning of the 23rd. I'm looking for something to do on the 22nd.

I need +1 for the Sat dinner.

Was the Le Meridian lobby for Fri or Sat eve?

Saturday afternoon is stll un scheduled.
We did the walking tour... a few times.
How about the 'hop on - hop off' Singapore bus tour?
I'd wondered about a 'Singapore Reality Tour' getting out of the Tourist/Downtoun area... but

Sunday Afternoon Tea at the hilton is a buffet.
We did the Indian food one year too near the Hindu Temple.... That was deeeeee-licious.
Any one want to join in either?

Sunday night Night Safari still with no one but me :P

Sean,
The Le Meridian gather is on Friday at 7:00 or when you get there. I'd imagine that people will show up during the evening. Then off to La Pau Sat for the midnight dinner/gathering.

Your right that Saturday afternoon still seems unscheduled. Your Hop on - Hop off idea could work very well. The day trips mentioned sound very interesting but perhaps logistically impossible for a large group without buying ferry tickets ahead of time.

Lunch on Sunday sounds great to me unless one of those day trips crop up. For those of us heading back on the Monday early am flights, the Sunday Night Safari might be a push for myself.

I may be able to come to La Pau Sat, after I land at 10.30pm and check in. Would get me there about 11.30pm at earliest. Could go direct or be collected by anyone on way from Le Meridian.

Sunday lunch can have several options or themes:
1. Equinox has a nice brunch. It's atop the raffles Plaza Hotel and had great views of the city.
2. Oscars in Conrad has a great buffet lunch.
3. Banana Leaf in Racecourse Rooad is good Indian food served on babanaleaf
4. Kopitiam in Keong Saik Rd Chinatown has great local chinese fod and is inexpensive.
5 enjoy the action of the touts at boat quay for your business...will it be a free beer or 30% off the food bill and a sit by the river?
6 Brewworks at Clarke Quay has lots of beers and hamburger/ribs type food. Next door is wine garage for the winos in the group...
7 best suggestion for Sunday lunch or dinner is a mini bar party at IC. bring local food, enjoy drinks around table in room. food includes pepper chicken, roti prata, korean fish, deserts like kueh, other local delights.

I'm planning to take the train to JB on Friday, if anyone would like to join me.

And at some point during the weekend hit Chinatown for a foot massage and threading. Ahhhhhh.

Here are some additional ideas for events.

Singapore Turf Club has races on Sat/Sun during the afternoon 20-21 Jan.

The Original Singapore Walks has a night time walk on Fridays of Chinatown.

And I will be departing on Wed 23-Jan. Still deciding about a quick 2 day jaunt up to KL on Mon/Tue.

BTW: Bus 16 travels from Orchard Rd to the East Coast Park, every 10-15 minutes.

It's been more scheduled some years, less others.

I believe that there will be a group, however small of us (5-10 maybe) that will be hitting Boat Quay in the mid/late afternoon for Tiger pitchers!! :D

Hop On Hop Off is an interesting tour, but is not really very long - maybe 1.5 hours max. Also, consider taking it in the morning when 1) it's cooler, and 2) you can get off at the Orchid Gardens and spend some time. They are really cool!
You then just hop back on the bus and go back to Orchard Road.

Unfortunately I wont be able to make it. The Coast-to-Coast Do turned out about $1200 cheaper. Hopefully sometime in the future!

Unfortunately, I'm out. A combination of the airfares and difficulty getting time off work around the MLK holiday. Fingers crossed for next year, 'tho. It's great that you all are keeping this going...it's an awesome FT event, to be sure!
