Come on down and share some food. I would think that this is the very reason that the midnight dinner got started. I remember last year it being a very good event with people showing up at all hours.

What time is the Boat Quay tiger beer happy hour starting? Can't leave any beer on the table this year. :D

If history is any indication, I'm putting my money on sometime between 2 and 3 or 3 and 4.
It's a very highly structured event at SIN DO, and we want to make sure that we don't get started too early OR too late!! ;) :D

I just got into the Hyatt about 3 hours ago (lots of delays in and out of ICN)

I hope Le Meridien is within walking distance to my hotel on Scott's road as I will probablly walk over there to meet you all tomorrow (Friday) night...anyone close by who would walk over there with me as I seem to be the only one staying here at the Grand Hyatt..think I will just share a few drinkies with you all and not go to the midnight munch...

I like the idea of sharing a van/cab something out to Geylang on Saturday night .....Please include me in the group!!!!!

Now, off for a massage and some more sleep. Then time to peruse the area.

Yes, it's an easy walk through the shopping district between the Grand Hyatt and Le Meridian. Just turn left at the Marriott. Then Le Meridian will be on your left several blocks later.

ps: Electricity is the absence of electrons. ;)

Taxi's are notoriously tough to get at times. Worse if it rains. I'll book 2 vans for 7pm from the Le M. Will report back with the price and capacity.

Perhaps I'm confused. I thought the plan was that we would meet at Le Meridian at 19:00 and depart to NSB at 19:30. If we're departing at 19:00, we should plan to meet at 18:30.

I think we're talking about 2 different nights.

Friday meet @ Le Meridian has people gathering and eventually off to La Pau Sat at around midnight.

While the Sat meet @ Le Meridian is a meeting point before shuttling to dinner @ NSB.

That sounds good to me as I won't do the Friday night midnight do....

I will have an unused Qantas F amentity kit (and a sleeper suit, but not sure I'll give that up, unless they give me 2 of them - I'll explain why and ask). Thought I might raffle it on Saturday night???

Orchard Road trash cans

Just took a stroll down Orchard Road.....man, it is hothothot outside but, of course, this is SIN!!!

The trash cans are brightly painted with whimsical figures...save the planet themed....they are wonderful!

Didn't find a single bargain so far......perhaps other FTers know more about this mass of stores on this street than I do....thought prices definitely US$ comparable....

I was talking about Saturday, as evidenced by "to NSB." Are you talking about taxis for Friday???

Getting ready to hop on a plane here at ORD. If anyone is in HKG on the layover into SIN, I'll be at the TG lounge after a short "freshen up" in the RCC.
Can't wait to see all of you!! Chili Crabs, here we come! :D

Best, Dave

Usually there are people leaving and joining through 'til 3AM. One year it drifted a little later. We'll certainly have lots of life left by 1:00-1:30.

Sorry, 2 nights ~ same spot to meet.

I wasn't thinking at all about the taxis for Friday night.

Good point about the timing for Saturdays pre-dinner meet. We can make it 6:30pm if it works better for people.

On that note, I checked on the mini-vans.
$45 for 6 passengers =SIN$7.50 each. (They said they could get a bus for 30 of us, and I just chuckled). It doesn't save money, but it means we don't need to wait for taxis.

Unless I hear otherwise, I'll book 3 vans tomorrow. I'm assuming not all will meet at the hotel, some finding their way by themselves.

Open to feedback on this one people.
