Just had drinks in the Meridien with Baxter&Bessies'Mama, seanthepilot,
opushomes, rtarbuck, Blank Sheet, karenkay, bschaff1, headinclouds, dedehans, alex0683de, upup&away, szg, and zvezda. Took this break to sneak into WWBGD's suite and check the e-mail and Flyertalk. Off to Lau Pa Sat with most of the above and perhaps the UA895 crowd in a couple hours. Having a great time. Wish all the Maybes could be here. |

What time is our reservation tonight at NSB? I am hanging with cousins this afternoon and may be too late to catch the bus so would take my own cab over there...... Also, does NSB have wine or only tiger beer.??? |

Made it to NRT (finally) at 7:59 pm. UA put me up in the Narita Excel Tokyu Hotel, which is where the FAs from UA 803 are also staying. Rebooked tomorrow -- in Y -- on JAL 719, departing NRT at 10:55 am arriving SIN at 5:35 pm. With better luck than I had today, I hope to be at the Le Meridien before 7:00 pm to catch a ride to NSB - Geylang. Hope to see you all there.
dedehans, the reservation is at 7.30p. no idea about booze there, however...sure someone will be along to answer that query shortly. :D |
they sell beer, wine, whatever at NSB. Never hurts to bring a bottle of wine if you want something special and ask. Sometimes they charge corkage and allow it.

It was great meeting everyone at Lau Pa Sat this morning. I am now feeling the effects of beer, time zone, lack of sleep and Violist's zzz's!
Looking forward to more! |

Definitely yes!
On the Oddessey bus. VERY nice. Lets see how the connection does for the next 5 hours. |
Wish I was there - unless things have changed NSB DOESN'T serve wine only beer (tea and soft drinks of course). I think you can byo wine - not sure.

1305 SIN Time, Pacific Coffee Esplanade
Great time yesterday evening. Got home to the LM at 0200, not far behind Karenkay and the the 1st group out. Finally awoke at 1130 thus removing some of the sleep deprivation. Somewhat concerned whether Blank Sheet and RTarbuck found there way home after leaving with the Intercontinental contingent to see if they could drain all the mini-bars. I am worried (Tonque in cheek) about the two neophytes who may have fallen in with the decadent (debouched?) European contingent.
The two may be out of their league, but they are game to try new things after our journey to Batam yesterday. They went from Asia Light to The Real Asia after a short boat ride. Our thanks to the Harmoni Hotel, Nagoya for an enjoyable afternoon in their wine bar including an educational film on the growing of Cuban Cohiba tobacco and a demonstation of cigar lighting with a blow torch. I'll try to find the Tiger beer meeting place this p.m. For no planning this Do is pretty damn good and worth the agony of getting here. Tomorrow may be an unguided tour of Bintan with Bessie's Mama if she is still eager to get another stamp in her virgin passport. |
Bus is set to depart 7pm sharp. It holds 44 people. Everyone that makes it on time, we can accomodate.
I expect people will arrive here 6:00-6:30. The Le Meridian Lobby Bar has Happy Hour from 4PM. Buy one get one on beer, and some spirits. Reservation is at 7:30 at NO SIGNBOARD, GEYLANG For those that haven't done this feast before, we typically order lots of food, beer, etc and split the bill at the end. my cell phone number is posted above in a previous post. see you all tonight. |
Great feast this evening. Thanks to all that showed up. I think I counted 30 for dinner.
For those interested Sunday's events (loosely planned) are Meet at the Intercontinental Hotel at 9am. Off to the Orchard Gardens Fort Canning after that, I think? 7:00 pm, meet at the Intercontinental hotel lobby Off to the Night Safari Looks like interest has peaked a little. Should be a nice small group. Happy travels to all that are flying home. Thanks for making it over to our neck of the woods. :):):) |
I am offering to organise dinner at a Chinese kopitaim in Keong Saik Rd, Chinatown. The Chinese New Year (CNY) lights were turned on last night, so the area will be lit up and this restaurant has great food, is cheap and authentic - their sweet and sour fish, black pepper (or black bean) beef, for example are excellent.
Lori_q and Violist have indicated interest. The suggestion would be to meet at Intercon at 5.45pm to head over there for a 6pm dinner and head to night safari by 8pm. That is a good time to get there and still have more than enough time at the safari. |

My deepest and sincerest thanks to seanthepilot, who's on ground work was just spectactular. The bus was an EXCELLENT touch, and I imagine that it may well be a fixture on future SIN runs. I hope that you all enjoyed NSB Geylang as much as I did - and for those of you who longed for Jumbo - I simply say: GOTV in 2009!!! Great to see old friends, meet new ones, find out that ones I thought were new friends weren't :o, and generally enjoy what I consider the single finest annual FT DO in existence!!! All the best to everyone, enjoy the balance of your collective trips and I look forward to meeting up with all of you in the near future!!! Best, Dave |
Infoworks, I am interested if I cannot meet up with Sid and Bessie's Mami this afternoon. Sid has my U.S. cell number if Mama is reading this.
