I still need to check the calendar at the office, but could probably swing by a casual dinner on Wednesday or Thursday.

No dissing the "tech"-girls. Some of us actually enjoyed our time in Lubbock. :D  ;)

Well, well, well...

What have we here? I have been in Estonia for three months, but I am headed back to the states for three days. It just so happens that I will be in Dallas (Irving) tomorrow (Wednesday) night. ^

Depending on what is decided, I will probably be able to join - at least for a little while.

studley Sep 6, 2005 5:28 pm

Things have calmed down for me at work, so I can meet up for dinner Wednesday or Thursday.

I'm out of town this week, but wanted to alert everyone to a Blues Benefit for Katrina Victims on Wednesday night. It's at Django's on the Parkway, an upscale-ish club in Village on the Parkway (Beltline & Tollway). $10 admission; they are also accepting canned goods, toys, clothes, etc. All proceeds go to the Red Cross.

If you're looking for somewhere to hang after dinner, check it out.

7:00pm - 8:00pm KM Williams
8:00pm - 8:30pm Big Mike Clark Band
8:30pm - 9:00pm BluPrint
9:00pm - 9:30pm Robbie Saunders and the 32-20's
9:30pm - 10:00pm BB Campbell and the Hambones
10:00pm - 10:30pm The Mojo Kings
10:30pm - 11:00pm Blue Lisa and the TBones
11:00pm - 12:00pm Christian Dozzler
12:00pm - 1:00 am Holland K. Smith
1:00am - 2:00 am Finale / Jam / Special Guests

====================================

Also, another Blues Benefit on Friday, Sep 17, 7-11 pm, at The Bone on Elm St in Deep Ellum. This one's only $5, proceeds to be matched 100%. The lineup looks pretty stellar for that amount of coin:

big daddy and the swell tones
cheryl arena
mike morgan
hashbrown
rockin jake (from New Orleans)
bill johnston
chris ruest

I'm in town and will be at that one for sure.

techgirl Sep 6, 2005 6:42 pm

And on the Katrina note - Dallas folks who will be in town on the 7th of October (a Friday), please PM me for info on another private fundraiser that night.

I can do Wednesday or Thursday. Right now I would lean towards Thursday unless someone wants to solidify a plan tonight.

Richard - what part of Dallas/Fort Worth are you staying in? We are all relatively spread out so it will help us pindot a place.

techgirl Sep 7, 2005 4:08 pm

Okay... barring any input from anyone else *ahem* I am going to just pick a time and place.

Champps in Las Colinas at 7 pm. Since the Oakland/New England game starts at 8 pm, that will give us time to grab a table before the mass flow at the door starts. I'll try to get there early (but I doubt I will beat studley who always beats me!) so whoever arrives first, grab a table.

Please do post if you are going to make it so we can count appropriately. I may have Mary and Monica in tow... and I promise Monica will leave the magazines at home this time. ;)

Champps is located on the NE corner of 114 and MacArthur.

I'll pass on this one. :(

I need to conserve what little money I have, as I'm taking someone to Texas de Brazil on Sat for her B-day. :D

RichardInSF Sep 7, 2005 10:29 pm

I expected to get on a plane today but the trip got canceled at the last minute! Sorry 'bout that, but at least I'll have no excuse to be late for the MR seminar this Saturday here in the Bay area. That's good, since I am providing the meeting room for the seminar. I'd love to catch y'all next time.

My ex grew up in Lubbock, Tech was her 'local.' It worked out pretty well for her, in fact. Just don't try swapping any of that Llano Estacado wine for my California cabernet!

studley Sep 8, 2005 5:43 am

I'm going to have to bow out....an unexpected change in a report deadline means I'm going to be working late the next few days.

techgirl Sep 8, 2005 6:21 am

Okay... since you two were the main RSVPs, why don't we reschedule for later in the month. I can still hang with the girls as originally planned (pre-FT DO), and all is cool.

DHAST Sep 8, 2005 11:33 pm

Hi All...

I see the DFW do is pretty quiet in the next couple of weeks, and I'd like to liven it up. I'm going to be at DFW (staying out near the airport) on the evenings of September 12 and 13. I'm getting in quite late on the 12th (might still make it in time for beers though!) but would love to get together for dinner with a few or a lot or one or two (okay you get the picture) of you on the 13th (Tuesday). The purpose of this trip is for a possible job and relocation. It's not an interview (okay, maybe an informational interview)... I'll never interview for this job! I've only been to DFW once (never left the airport!) and am travelling by myself, so anything other than eating dinner by myself would be fun.

studley Sep 9, 2005 6:47 am

I had been thinking of staging a gathering in the middle to the end of the month, but can meet up for dinner on 9/13.

techgirl Sep 9, 2005 7:20 am

I'm out for the 13th but will hopefully catch a few of you later in the month or in October.

boilermaker Sep 9, 2005 8:04 pm

Looks like I might be able to do dinner on the 13th.

studley Sep 10, 2005 8:48 pm

We'll have a gathering Tuesday at the place it all began.

Blue Mesa Grill
5100 Belt Line Rd Ste 500
