Account Executive, PriceGrabber.com Travel

Hello everybody. I'm really glad I found this thread - seems like it could become its own forum one day if enough people use it.

I'm the Business Director of Travel for PriceGrabber.com, and we're looking for an account executive to join us here in Los Angeles. We've been around since 1999, and we have about 150 employees currently. The travel side of the house is new for us, but it's not for me. I joined the company last July after working at both United and America West. We have a metasearch model, similar in idea to Sidestep and Kayak.

I'm now looking for someone to prospect new and handle current relationships primarily with airlines and online travel agents but also with some hotels. Someone with a couple of years experience is probably the right fit. Read the job posting below, and if you're interested, send me a PM.

---------------------------

Account Executive, Travel

The Account Executive will be responsible for contacting, negotiating and securing partnerships via telephone and email with hotel, air, and agency partners worldwide for PriceGrabber.com’s new Travel channel. This individual will be focused primarily on the generation of new partnership opportunities along with maintaining existing relationships. This position will also have direct involvement in shaping the future strategy of the travel product. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with airline industry knowledge and experience to help build the Travel channel product from the ground up.

Responsibilities

* Develop new and manage existing hotel, air, and agency partners
* Propose, structure, and negotiate complex contracts and fee arrangements with partners
* Act as liaison between partners and internal content and technology teams
* Help shape the future strategy of the travel product
* Represent PriceGrabber Travel at various industry events, conferences, workshops and other public settings

Required Skills

* Candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills, be very organized and have the ability to efficiently handle multiple projects and accounts in a fast paced, results oriented environment
* Strong interpersonal skills, including poise, presence, and diplomacy are required
* Ability to successfully close deals with travel partners
* Understanding of the Internet and e-commerce
* Experience in the airline industry preferred
* BA/BS degree required

Guess (sadly) it's my turn...

Moving from DTW to RDU later this summer for wife's employment, and I need a job. Been in the ad agency/marketing field for about 10 years, and currently working in a great account management gig for one of the major companies in the Detroit area (hint hint: they make cars). Would like to stay on the agency side, but would certainly consider a marketing role on the client side. Unfortunately for me, the RDU area is full of tech/pharm companies, two industries in which I have almost no direct work experience.

If anyone's looking for a fellow FTer to join their team, or has some advice, I'm all ears. Otherwise, I'll be playing Mr. Mom for my 20-month and 2-month old kids!

Hire me! Hire me! *Raises hand*

Dear reader,

I implore you to assist in my job search. If you are looking for someone to get things done right the first time...look no further. I know many of you may work for an organization either based in Asia or has offices in Asia. Therefore, if you or you know of any organization looking for a top notch Marketing (~2 years+), Corporate Sales (~2 years+), Operations Management (~1 year), or Logistics guru (~3 years) with the ability to travel please let me know. If it helps, I do hold an American Passport with visas for various Asian countries.

As with my last job search, I can offer a bounty for the person that assists me in getting the interview which leads to a job which will consist of:

$50 USD Cash (or gift card)
A Dinner
Maybe an Airline Ticket or goodies (If it's a sweet job)
My eternal gratitude (Very valuable)

Please note, The screen name I have chosen isn't reflective of my work ethic. It reflects the fact that 1. I am a nightclub owner 2. I work HARD (14 hour days at my past position was common) and play hard.

As for the caveats: I speak Mandarin Chinese and English, I would personally prefer living in Taipei or Hong Kong, but any major city in China will be seriously considered. If you need a copy of my resume (CV) please PM me and I will be glad to provide one.

I appreciate your assistance.

Best Regards,
Jon

I've already explained why this is my nickname. Creating a new SN is against FT TOS.

Except in special curcumstances. Maybe it could temporarily be changed to workextremelyhardattheexpenseofmyfriendsandfamilya llinthenameofprofit_boy. At least until you get a new gig. :D

Or maybe just profit_boy.

Are you leaving the nightclub business?

Did I just find out that a single word in a post cannot be more that 47 characters long before a space is inserted for you?

What would I get for my money?

If you're serious about investing, I can discuss it with you over the phone. As my partners noted before I invested a dime, "be prepared to loose it all", however the reward can also just be as large. Some clubs become icons and can easily make millions in the life of the club and others have died within 6 months. However as with any business, if set up properly clubs can make a pretty penny or NT/RMB/HKD. :D

Also if you hurry, we might be able to buy MOS old equipment!
