Thanks for the spa info. I think we ladies ( and some men) were looking for the best of "the little seedy places in Chinatown". We went to one last yr and it was very cheap - the massages were good - but they talked on their cell phones during them :td: . AFAIK, we are definatly not looking to pay US prices over there :D

I am in!

Thank you SanDiego1k for bringing me up to speed. In Friday staying probably at the Sheraton then a move for two nights to the Conrad. Anyone find a good rate at the Hyatt? Out Monday morning. Looking forward to seeing you all. Regards

Glad to hear you'll be joining us! Are you flying with the rest of us (or most of us, anyway) HKG-SIN?

Keithl Oct 25, 2004 10:31 pm

Hilton KL

SINner??? :D

If some of you are still keen on KL, I would suggest the Hilton KL. Just stayed there over the weekend and found the place ^ Its a 5-min walk from the hotel room to the Sentral train station. You can take a train to KL and just walk to the hotel.

Unagi1 is Confirmed

Mike - please mark me down as confirmed...I'll email you with my itinerary.

Mrs. unagi1 will be on the trip but cannot attend the dinner as she is meeting up with her old SIN schoolmates flying in from Europe and Oz...Doing their own SIN-do of sorts I guess. I'll work on her to perhaps attend the Sunday food court event...

Those of you with an extra day to lunch on your hands might also consider the Nonya buffet lunch at the Copthorne King's Hotel. We've been hitting that for years and its not bad. The prawn mee is excellent, small bowls but you keep going back and back and back..

Guy Betsy Nov 16, 2004 11:52 am

Okay... I'm a maybe.

For my info... can I have a show of hands as to who will be staying at the Conrad? I'll explain when I have the numbers. Please feel free to PM privately if you don't want others to know.

Thank you.

SanDiego1K Nov 16, 2004 11:54 am

Guy Betsy in Guy Betsy's city? That would be great. I know that jan_az, rtwstaralliance, and I are at the Conrad - and suspect many others are as well.

RTWSTARALLIANCE Nov 16, 2004 12:30 pm

Add another room to the Conrad count for a friend also doing this trip.

What? No Chilli Crab (Singapore's famed dish)? No Cereal prawns? No Drunken prawns? No sweet-soya sauced baby calimari? No Sweet and Sour Fish?

mjm Nov 16, 2004 5:09 pm

Where in the heck is that guy called mjm who is supposed to be updating this thread. You would think he had fallen right off the edge of the planet (Round, yeah, sure, now tell me another one :) ).

Well, I for one am going to have a strict word with him about getting this thread and the website associated with this little gathering updated this very weekend.

Keep an eye out here for notice that all is in order sometime Sunday evening JST.

Regards,

Mike's conscience

unagi1 Nov 16, 2004 8:04 pm

unagi1 and Mrs. unagi1 are at the Conrad...

restlessinRNO Nov 16, 2004 10:21 pm

I'm at the Conrad, Jan. 14 - 17.

Just what I was thinking! when you see/contact the slacker give him a piece of your mind! :)

beaubo Nov 17, 2004 6:44 am

officially a 'maybe'

techgirl Nov 17, 2004 8:49 am

Mark me now as a "probably" - I have to be in San Diego the 11th through 13t so it will be very easy for me to just jump over to SIN since I'll already be on the west coast.

I just need to figure out flights and whether to do UA over on a revenue ticket or SQ or CX on an award. [/thinking outloud]

SWEET!!!!! <thinking out loud on> ...techgirl needs to fly UA so she can be on the fun flights with most of the rest of us... we already have 14 (or more?) of the 26 UD seats booked HKG-SIN! <thinking out loud off>

I'll be flying out of SAN. :D

techgirl Nov 17, 2004 10:11 am

What itinerary should I be requesting? And will my upgrade clear with all you guys on the flight already?!

SanDiego1K Nov 17, 2004 10:32 am

My outbound itinerary:

Jan 13
UA 594 SAN-SFO
UA 869 SFO-HKG
Jan 14
UA 895 HKG-SIN

I think we have about 15 FTers in the upper deck on UA895. GK and Sean are joining us from HKG. There are a few who are going via Narita and meeting up with mjm.

I hope so!!,,,otherwise you won't have nearly as much fun as the rest of us on the UD!! :) Good luck! Dave

techgirl Nov 17, 2004 2:02 pm

Ah... we'll, I'm going to miss you guys on that flight anyhow. I'll be with my client through 7 pm on the 13th so I can't fly out until the morning of the 14th... unless I take CX on the night flight on the 13th which is a strong possibility.

beaubo Nov 17, 2004 10:05 pm

oops..forgot about silly family trip to ZIH during MLK. Shucks!

Kiwi Flyer Nov 19, 2004 4:03 pm

also at Conrad

unagi1 Nov 20, 2004 4:00 pm

via NRT

I am SFO-NRT-SIN on 837 on the 13th/14th. I see that restlessinRNO is on the flight as well. Not sure about others at this point. We will meet up with mjm at the RCC. SFO-NRT cleared at ticketing, still waiting on NRT-SIN.

Savage25 Nov 20, 2004 10:37 pm

I will also be at the Conrad from Jan 14-16.

mjm Nov 21, 2004 3:02 am

Well at long last the website:

http://home.inter.net/mjm/sinrun05.html

has been updated with all of the information I could find in the thread. I have most likely overlooked something however and there are a few of you who have not yet posted flight details. If you prefer not to that is fine, but I just want to ensure that those who would like their details posted are aware that I am now going to be updating the page as and when details are added to the thread. Sorry for the delay the past few weeks. :)

When you get a chance to check out the site, have a look to see if I have overlooked anything and either post to the thread or e-mail me privately ([email protected]) and I will see that the page is updated straight away.

So we have less than two months until the festivities commence and I am really looking forward to seeing everybody soon..................

I just discovered this thread and amazingly we (wife and I) happen to be passing through Singapore on that week-end on our way to Australia. Although I have been more of a lurker than a talker on these boards (proven by my low post count :D ) I would love to meet other Flyertalkers while in Singapore. As it will be our first time in SIN (well at least our first time on the other side of the Passport control) we will probably be running around like mad the two days we are there, but would like to join you for dinner on Saturday for the Pepper Crabs.

We are booked at the Conrad Jan 14th-16th.

Itin:
13-Jan-05 BA399 BRU-LHR 18:45 19:00
13-Jan-05 BA7310 LHR-SIN 22:00 18:35+

16-Jan-05 CX716 SIN-HKG 18:05 21:45
16-Jan-05 CX101 HKG-SYD 23:45 11:55+

izzik Nov 21, 2004 8:51 pm

Wow, there's a lot of FTers on the NRT-SIN leg (UA837). I wonder where everyone is? Better have those flashy Flyertalk luggage tags showing! ;)

jan_az Nov 21, 2004 9:01 pm

I think there are 14 of us on HKG-SIN ( UA 895) and we are all on the upper deck :)

The FAs are really going to wonder what they did to deserve that... ;)

StarG Nov 30, 2004 9:54 am

mjm, please put me down as a maybe.
If my schedule does not change, I think I should be able to hop over to SIN to see you all. Looking forward to the SIN DO. :)

As for the hotel, may I know why are there so many staying at the Conrad?
I am considering Conrad, Intercontinental (info on either/both would be appreciated), or The Fullerton (familiar).

Will send you more flight details as date gets closer.
Thanks!

I've never stayed at the Conrad, so I thought this was as good a time as any to try it out :)

The Intercontinental is a great place to stay if you are an IC Ambassador, but that weekend is kind of bad for all the Priority Club 10,000 points/2,500 miles promos unless you check out on the 15th.

More info on the Intercontinental in these posts:

The only reason why I chose the InterContinental was because the rates weren't bad.. the location was not on Orchard Road.. and it is close to an MRT stop.
