Naw. If my kids, who are Jewish by virtue of my wife's matrilineal heritage, don't want their pastrami, I get it and enjoy accordingly!

p.s. another option - go eggless mayo
Why wouldn't it be kosher? There's mayo in Ben's cole slaw.

Hmm. Just had recalled in my earlier days being told it wasn't.

Quick search on Google seems to indicate that it (mayo) is perfectly kosher and isn't dairy.

So, for those who appreciate the richness of their adulterated pastrami on rye with mayo - enjoy!

Pastrami and mayo may be something you might want to add to this thread, but do it at your own risk. People may not be so forgiving in OMNI.

It's not a Southern California food oddity, it's a food oddity in Southern California. I have never seen anyone being served pastrami with mayo at proper Jewish delis here, be it Langer's, Canter's, Brent's, Wexler's, etc.

OK, back on topic, I'm a definite maybe. However, I will not be able to commit until close to the end of October.

imo mayo on pretty much any sandwich is a non-starter, esp when it’s already in a filling such as tuna salad or chicken salad … and equally imo there’s a special place in hell for those who dilute the effect of good mustard with mayo

A friendly reminder that the festivities begin the night before! Come have some fun at the 16th Drunk DO, whether you attend in person or on screen.

That depends on the time and the type of Mayo. I agree with you, for example, that I would not want my mustard ruined with California or New York Mayo. However, if this were the 1940's or 50's, I would happily give up all mustard if it meant I would get Virginia Mayo.

Even in Northern California, there's a tendency to put lots of mayo on any sandwich, including hamburgers and cheeseburgers. Outsiders would never think to ask about this when ordering.

Sadly I'll have to give this one a miss. I'm in San Francisco with the almost Mrs. CMK10 that weekend. Otherwise we'd have been there for sure.

If you're open to an outsider, I expect to be in the NYC area that weekend and would love to join in. I normally get my deli crawl in April / May with a tradeshow and have missed a couple of fixes.
