who I am
I am returning to flyer talk after years of absence. I am a physician who travels a lot both domestically and internationally. My main airline is Continental and both my wife and I are Platinum Elites. Needless to say the merger of CO and UA has us very concerned. We do not see how the new airline will provide the same level of service which we have received on CO.
This is not to knock the old UA. However, they have had their problems and morale is not the best. If you have unhappy employees, you will not have the best service. Only time will tell. Fortunately, there is always WN domestically. |
Belated introduction for my 105th post
Hi. My name's Rob, and I live with my wife and daughter about four miles from National Airport. That and my job (newspaper tech columnist) should explain my username here.
My introduction to frequent flying came late in high school, when my dad got a job overseas. Our family's temporary relocation led to a series of EWR-ORY runs that quickly earned me status on CO, back when that usually guaranteed upgrades on domestic itineraries. I had no idea how good I had it. And then... nothing. The usual post-collegiate poverty ensured my status ran out (although the miles persisted, allowing me to cash most of them in on F upgrades for Mrs. DCA Writer and I on our honeymoon), and I stopped putting much effort into picking flights. Sometime early in the past decade, however, my friend tailfins started talking about this site where frequent travelers exchanged tips about how to play the FF game smarter. After the third or fourth sales pitch, I checked out FlyerTalk, then kept reading. After a few years of lurking and learning, I opened an account. It's now been some 35 years since I can first remember being on a plane (I think it was a 737 to CLE), and in that time I've flown on at least 29 airlines and in or out of 73 airports. I still enjoy flying, notwithstanding airport inconveniences, and continue to hog the window seat. Especially if it's an approach or departure at DCA. |
Hi im Jacob,

Hi, my name is Scanner Lady Nancy. I work for an employee benefits firm as an administrative assistant. I scan the incoming mail, and I scan copies of outgoing mail.
I'm starting to hate my job, though, because my witch boss is making me do the work of people who recently quit -- stuff that is a lot more complicated than scanning. Oddly enough, I think she forgot to give me a raise accordingly  But, I do enjoy flying back home to Illinois every couple of months on Delta to visit family. :) |
Hi
I'm Vincentb89, 21 years old, living in Paris ( France not Illinois;) ). What to say : I'm a student / civil servant studying economics / law. Apart from traveling really often (especially to the US), I do love simple but necessary things such as reading books, listening to music and everything else that diverts me from working I've been a lurker for 3 years but I'll be happy to help anyone who needs advice about my area of expertise, the city of Paris ( so PM me if advice needed I'll be glad to help !) |

Hello all,
I have discovered my darling wife's secret collection of hotel shampoos, soaps, slippers (and some other things I can't mention for legal reasons), and the trail leads here.. But it is also true that the quality of our joint (and in fact also my solo) trips have increased significantly in the same time frame, so I am not complaining. I am looking forward to learning from all of you, and hopefully contributing as well. Best wishes from an IC hotel |
Greetings fellow FT'ers!
Started a new job in Chicago in August 2010. By October they had me in the air and fortunately logged 26,000 EQM's with UAL and just over 40 nights with Hilton before 2011. I hated seeing the miles and nights reset to 0 this year, but I'm hoping to make 1K this year, solely on domestic flights between ORD and SAN. Thanks in advance for everyone's help, advice and insight! - LRME |
I'm Canadian and split time between Toronto and NYC. I've traveled a fair bit in North & South America, Europe, Asia, Southern Africa & the Pacific.
|
I'm a micromanager at a large insurance company. I moved here from Canada, eh! I love going to Myrtle Beach with all the other Canadians. :)

Hello FT!
I'm brand new posting on here as I just registered today after lurking around for some time. I am a young owner of a custom commerical furniture company here in Southern California and travel quite a bit domestically and internationally for work and pleasure. I am looking forward to contributing on the forums and continuing to absorb valuable advice for all my travel needs. I swear by FT to my friends/colleagues and just about anyone who I know that will benefit from this wonderful world of goodness. Thank you to you all who make this site what it is. I'm ready to start racking up those BIS miles! :D |

Long time lurker, first time poster, blah, blah, blah...
UA 1K about to lose status for 2011 but just bumped to Priority Club Gold. Usual overseas routes are BOS-NRT and the occasional BOS-CDG. Taking my 17-year-old son to Japan on UA miles next month and will be looking for advice/hints/tips/etc. |
A Bit About Me
Hello everyone! My name is Anastasia Writer. I am a full time mother, a writer (I host my own weekly Writing Group), I am also the Home and School Association President at my daughters school. I live in Philadelphia and am a 10 year Veteran.
Yes my name sounds fake. :D It is my pen name. It cuts down on a lot of the emails that I receive in my general email account. Plus using this email address allows me to focus on certain topics in order of importance. I really look forward to interacting with as many of you as possible! :p |
Another long time lurker (on the order of years), currently located in BOS.
I have traveled to most places in the USA, but only a few places internationally. http://www.openflights.org/user/scottsinct -Scott |
My name is Bryce, from New Orleans (born and raised). I am an A.B. Freeman School of Business student at Tulane University (Marketing and Management). I have traveled across the US (mostly in the West) and look forward to traveling for business or pleasure across the oceans.
I aspire to be an airline or airport executive. I think being a member of this community will help me learn about the business travel culture so I can someday help an airline develop a better experience. Bryce |
Hi all fellow members...I'm Dutch, have a family in Belgium however my house and relax chair is seat number 1C in an MD11 where I spend 50% of my time traveling between South America and AMS..... I'm in the mining business.

Hi all! I spend a lot of time travelling between NYC, LA, and Denver. Occasional trips to Europe too. Just finally joined after lurking for a while, thought I'd chime in here and there. I travel for business mostly, although occasionally get to go somewhere nice!
|
Hello all,
Rather infrequent flyer who travels only for pleasure and will probably mostly lurk. Was drawn to the forums googleing for hints on getting better rates and discovered a depth to traveling info I was completely unaware of. Now, a few months later I wish I would have found the forums years ago, but it's never too late to learn...:) |
I have been lurking for years.
I have been a Marriott Plat for eight years in a row and found this site searching for promo codes years ago (I am also Delta Silver for a few, United Premier once, and National Executive Elite for four). I used to drive a lot, but now I am flying more and find this site very resourceful. |

As one of United's pilots we work hard for your business, and it's nice to hear when someone likes the airline. This is a great place for info, but watch out, if you support United too much you get labeled an "apologist" by those who complain about everything. Take it with a grain of salt and it's fun. Welcome again. :)^ AD |

Hi
Hi everyone, newbie here, just found this site so looking forward to learning lots of useful information from you all!! I travel mostly to L A these days as my son and baby granddaughter live there, like to use American airlines when possible to rack up the air miles! so if anyone has any tips and hints they will gratefully be received.
|
Welcome to flyertalk. It's a great site with loads of information. You will find the site is well organized. For instance, you will be able to find out a lot of information about American Airlines in that forum.
My advice would be to browse around and read the stickies at the top of the forums you are interested in. They provide a lot of great information and outline the guidlines of the forum Again, welcome aboard. |
Hi, long time lurker but finally an official member and (now) poster. I'm a Business Analyst based in IND and mostly travel as a hobby - I'm fortunate enough to be able to work from almost anywhere. I hope to get to know other fellow travelers and perhaps find a deal or two on here.
Cheers, msko06 |

Hi! I'm a newbie here in flyertalk. I'm quite interested in knowing more from real people about credit cards and get an insight as to which would be the best to choose from.
|
Lovelykiana and msko06, welcome to FlyerTalk! One great feature of this site is that FTers are not only so helpful, but collectively know more about these programs than the front-line employees.
|
Hi Everyone!
I am new to this community. :) ANd Im liking it already! :D
