I think the rate Bernie negotiated is quite good. Given my recent huge tax bill, however, I'm sticking w/ the free nights at the Hilton - and kokonutz, I'll just stumble into the taxi & then into the Hilton elevator http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif But if I was going for Marriott points vs free stay, the Courtyard deal of course is a good one as well.

PS - and yes, my accountant is hearing from me http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

A quick word of warning to folks connecting through FRA to LH FRA-DUS flights. It looks like LH changed their FRA-DUS schedule - it caused those of us on UA940 ORD-FRA to misconnect.

As a result, koko, I012609 and I are now on LH433 on the way over. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

kokonutz May 15, 2003 2:35 pm

Routing is now
UA383-LH433-LH40-LH3-LH432-UA712 on the 17th-20th all in highest class available, natch!

SkiAdcock May 15, 2003 5:25 pm

I'll keep checking periodically but right now my flights are the same (unlike all my domestic flights!).

I think I posted the flights in FT itineraries, but in case anyone's coming from LAX: 16th July LH 457 depart LAX 2:55pm; 17th July LH26 depart FRA 1:00pm; 20th July LH 217 depart DUS 10:30am & LH450 depart FRA 1:40pm - First Class.

Looking forward to seeing you all in July (and some of you at the Manhattan Beach get-together this Sunday). Cheers.

Bernie, yhm...

For those with BA/QF miles who had been contemplating arriving at DUS III in style-- looks like lots of Z award travel on the Concorde has opened up in mid July--both ways.
JFK-LHR-DUS: via Concorde July 07--21
DUS-LHR-JFK: via Concorde July 19, 21, 22, 23
I know Punki & Hunki would love the company!

Well, I'm bummed that I won't have the opp to fly the Concorde before it's retired. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

Since I've not been to Dusseldorf before, I asked Bernie about things to do & he was kind enough to provide me w/ the following:

"The homepage link is www.duesseldorf-tourismus.de … There is a button for English in the upper right side.

There is a lot of things to do / see in Düsseldorf depending what you are looking for or interested in. See “arts & culture” and “sightseeing” at the website."

I looked at the website & it has quite a bit of good info, so thought I'd post it here in case anyone else was interested in things to do (besides our already planned get-togethers). Cheers.

We just made our reservations at the Nikko and were able to change our LHR/DUS flight to arrive at 9:45 a.m. on the 19th so we will be able to join the tour to the castle (Schloss Burg).

Again, bernie, thanks for all of your wonderful organizational efforts.

RTWSTARALLIANCE May 19, 2003 11:10 am

Virgins onboard. Well kinda. My wife and I will be making our FT DO first appearance. I'm prepared but I don't think she has a clue. Former Guest Relations Manager at great Kyoto hotel. This will be something new for her. We are awaiting confirmation from Bernie that seats are still available. We have reservations for the Concorde outbound and into LHR on 15 July. BA from LHR to DUS on 17 July. Early morning 20 July DUS to LHR to JFK on BA. LHR to JFK will be on 747 in F. Still working on reservations for domestic legs. Looking forward to meeting you all. Be kind or should we be scared? Regards

I have met most who are going and everyone is great. No real weirdos or anything like that. Some of the people you meet will be truly some of the best people you will ever meet in your lifetime...really.

Now then there are some of us that I am not too sure if it is a positive or a negative to know including myself. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Your wife will be fine. There are some great ladies that will be there and she will fit right in.

Profuse apologies to Bernie for not touching base after his last email. Not like me at all but been trying to juggle 5 or 6 things for July over the globe, and all still up in the air - to coin a phrase. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Really want to keep my DUS scorecard at 100% so please add me back to "maybe" list if possible Bernie. Lots of first time attendees here I am keen to meet. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

U P D A T E

Including RTWSTARALLIANCE we now are 48 at the fireworks and 51 for Saturday's excursion. Since I've reservation for a 50seater coach, we will be fully booked. I'd of course book a bigger one - but I won't do so just "guessing". Everybody please feel free to enter the "waitlist"
but please do so by May 30th
I'll have a group to Brazil from June 1st - 18th ... and some vacation after that returning back home June 26th, so I might not be able to take care of things well during that time.

First on the "waitlist" will be
Oz (sorry, my friend, you had alot of time posting all over the plcae didn't you ? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif)

Unless you have him listed under another name, I don't see kokonutz on your list & he's been in since the begining (posts in this thread have him at the nikko & flight #s).

We were just talking about the Dus Do last night at the Manhattan Beach do. I now know what a sidecar is, and also know not to play tennis w/ Rudi either in or out of a grass skirt http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

See you in a couple of months. Cheers.

Hope you now know not to drink with Matt Wald (aka kokonutz) http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

wingless May 19, 2003 2:57 pm

The warning is too late. She drank with him last night.
