It appears to be a BYOB (Beverage, bento, etc)

Thanks for keeping us excited NewbieRunner ^

Will you choose 'Academic Achievement' or 'Love Knot' or anything in-between?

Ouch - I'm seeing little to no availability anywhere within 30 miles for Sat. 4/4 !! Checking all the usual booking sites...

Any tips from the in-crowd? Is anybody planning to cancel a duplicate reservation that I might pick up?

And BTW, yes - pfbloom and +1 will likely be attending at least some of the festivities!

Like NewbieRunner stated.... keep checking, changes are decent that cancellations will happen and a room will be available.
I am looking for a room in Kyoto myself around the same time. And today one date has opened up after the hotel has been sold out for months.

Woohoo - all booked!

I've updated my info in the wiki.

Anybody else staying at the GH FUK? I'm just Plat with Hyatt, so won't have fancy lounge access, so if anybody wants to grab breakfast in the mornings with me, let me know.

I'll also be attending the post-DO trip to the onsen and Kumamoto. ^

It looks like unfortunately I might be out as I just got scheduled to go to Korea for work for 3 weeks starting March 30th. I do have a suite reservation for 4 nights at the GH Fukuoka if anyone wants to take that over once my cancellation is definite.

Thanks for the update. Keep me posted as I can look into more of the particulars.
Beck & myself are out for the DMZ tour. We will be leaving FUK Sunday afternoon into ICN. We leave a few hours later for DXB, 26 hours there and then DXB-LAX. Creative routing requires that we travel on EK in F on the A380 INC-DXB & DXB-LAX. It took a lot of convincing to get Beck to agree to this massive amount of time in the air, but he relented when I pointed out (again) how fabulous EK F really is.^^

I have three separate strategic bookings I made at the Hyatt Regency for Fri, Sat and Sun which I will not be using (I was going to cancel).

These are each for a standard "DOUBLE ROOM" (Two Beds).

The Rates are for Fri and Sun: ¥11,500 and for Sat ¥14,500.

Is it possible to assign these to another FTer?

[edit]
Yes, Fri and Sat have been taken.

Sunday Night at ¥11,500 still available.

I still have a few DSU's that are about to expire... Was your stay from April 2-6 by any chance?

Well it turned into one

Was watching Kiko TV in ITO tonight and they had a program with English subtitles from Japan- Kenmin.tv - they were talking about a prefecture that ate chicken as sashimi . Wonder what culinary treasures FUK has?

A better known speciality is horse meat sashimi which is popular in Kumamoto. It is offered as part of a set dinner at most ryokans and I'll have to call our ryokan in Kurokawa Onsen again nearer the date to confirm we don't want any.

Another Fukuoka speciality is mentaiko, spicy marinated cod roe.
