Application link for the Shop Your Way (SYW) MasterCard is HERE.

Accumulating points, expiration, and redemptions:
You can accumulate SYW points in some of the following methods:
  • Bonus offers sent to your email (ie: Spend $750 on Online and get 200,000 SYW Bonus points)
  • Regular spend - categories: 5% in gas, 3% in grocery/restaurants, 2% in SYW Merchants, 1% everywhere else
  • "Missions" in the SYW App (iPhone/Android)
Expiration of points:
Not all points have the same expiration timeframe. Some bonus/incentive points expire in 30 days or less. Most are 1 year. You can check in the SYW app, or the shopyourway.com website. Make sure to redeem the points before they expire!!!!

Redemptions:
You can only redeem $200 worth per day. So if you redeem for a $200 GC, you have to wait until the next day to make another redemption of any amount.

Credit Line Increases
This is very odd, but according to the Chatbot on the website:
Q. When requesting a credit limit increase, is the credit inquiry a hard or soft credit inquiry?
A. Unfortunately, until we process the request, there isn't a way for us to know if a credit line increase request will be a soft or hard hit on your credit report. For this reason, we have to receive your permission to pull a copy of your credit report before we process the increase request. If you process the request online, you will see a message stating "By submitting this form, you authorize Citibank, N.A. to obtain your credit report."

To request an increase online:
In order to request an increase, you will need to go to your “Credit Home” page, and find “Available Credit” at the top of the page. Then, click on the link that says “Request Increase” to begin the process.

This one is definitely online spend only. got the same! (with the usual exclusion list of taxes, insurance, etc in the fine print)

Did we get final confirmation whether utilities (Edison, Con Ed, Comed) when paid over the phone counts as online purchases?

Got $30 statement credit for $500+ online spending. Didn't have a Dec 15 offer for that but it's back.

Fixed it. It’s online spend like every other month.

Does anyone know whether it's possible to set up 2FA on the Citi SYW site?

Like when I go to manage my card, I can sign in with username and password. I would prefer it to require a code or a key or something.

Target codes as discount store online when I purchased a gift card

I wonder if actual groceries code as groceries when purchased at Target.com

7-11 codes as vehicle services when used in store which counts as gas. I have other merchants which also code the same which counts as gas.

I do not think Citi sees what you actually purchase and goes by merchant category.

If anyone has more data points as what counts as gas but doesn’t actually code as gas it would be appreciated.

Sadly the wiki hasn't been updated in over 3 years, since it looks like it was just copied from the old thread. btw why is there no link to the orig thread "Citi Sears Cards (2014 - 2023)"

DoctorOfCredit has started a post where people are posting recent datapoints. The main thing I learned there so far is that buying vgc at 711 counts as gas (so 15% back instead of 13% buying at safeway, if you have a 10% ggr bonus and still under 10k/yr)

The other is that buying vgc thru various giftcard sites triggers online spend. Maybe these datapoints are all that's needed since the visa gc can then just be used to pay anything else you want that normally don't qualify (insurance, prop tax, etc)?

I have added a link to the previous thread.

7-11 locations are franchised, and not all are in the gasoline business. I would not generalize from experiences at one location.

and now they've made this harder to test too. Before you could get close to the first tier and then buy something somewhere (eg a particular 711 or whatever) and wait 5-7 days to see if the whole thing triggered, and then continue to buy small amounts in other places to see if each triggers incrementally.

now afaict, nothing posts when you hit the first tier, and maybe not the second tier either. So you really only know after the month is over (and may miss the bonus if in fact it didn't count).
