FAQ
1. Are these cards churnable?
Yes, they are. BUT you’ll have to wait anywhere from 12 to 26 months before applying again. Approvals have happened at the 13 month mark and denials at 24.
There is no set 18 month rule, but always err on the side of caution when churning.
Also- it’s from DATE OF APPROVAL and not from date of cancellation.
2.What are the most current rules in applying for these cards?
#ONLY ONE APPLICATION in a day (make that 30 hours to be safe)
#No more than 2 apps in 65 (approximately) days.
Example:
Day 1 40K personal platinum
Day 2 or later 25-30K personal gold
65+ days later 40K business
While the day limits are a little flexible by a few days either way and YMMV, the rules themselves are not flexible.
3. How long does it take for the Admiral passes to arrive?
For the better part, it takes about 3 months. This is not a set number, and some have received theirs sooner. It's been deduced that the passes are handled by a 3rd party that mails them in batches. Please don’t call Citi for the passes, because you’ll mostly find a CSR who doesn't know better and will give you wrong information.
4. Can I apply for a business card if I don’t have a business?
Technically, you can. But you may be asked for a 4506-T form, or to provide proof of business or/and a copy of a bill with your business name on it. If you don't already have a credit history for the business name you plan to use (meaning this is your first rodeo) then it is recommended you use your name as the business name with no income and 0 as years in business.
5. How do I get the statement credit?
First, you have to make sure if the offer you signed up for gave you A $150 credit or UP TO A $150 statement credit. For the 1st, any AA coded purchase ($50 AA GC seems to be the simplest option here) will/should trigger it. For the 2nd, you’ll have to spend $150 to get the $150 credit.
For more information on what will work and what won’t, please see here (thanks sdsearch) and here (thanks dogbyte)
6. Does the $150 account credit (for AA purchases using the VISA or AMEX) count against the spending required to receive the initial mileage bonus?
No. It does not. (Put differently: any account credit you receive has no impact on your spending total for purposes of earning the "X thousand miles for $Y spent in the first Z months" bonus.)
7. Can I buy Visa gift cards to meet my minimum spend?
There’s a very good chance that it’ll be coded as a cash advance.
It’s recommended to call citi and have them set your Cash Advance limit to zero. (thanks KennyBSAT)
8. Do I get 10% back when redeeming miles for awards?
It depends. First, the rebate program (which began in April 2012) applies only to holders of these cards:
Also, the maximum rebate for any cardholder in a single calendar year is 10,000 miles. Having more than one qualifying Citi AA card will not allow you to receive a larger rebate; the restriction applies per AAdvantage account.
9. At what locations are my one day Club passes valid?
All valid locations are listed here.

If you read the last 30-50 posts in this thread, you'll see that multiple people have applied, been approved, & received confirmation of the offer terms for the issued card (50K for $3K spend in 4 mos.). That's all the confirmation anyone will ever get, or should need. Eventually, the links will simply stop working.

$85 Annual Fee?
Just used the link for personal visa in post #1 and got immediate approval. On the final page it said the annual fee was 85.00 but was waived for the first year. Will I still be getting my 50,000 miles after 3,000 spend in 4 months?

The annual fee has nothing to do with the bonus. You can get your 50k miles and cancel before the year is up, and you'll never get hit with a fee. (Whether you should do that is a different question altogether, but has nothing to do with the bonus.)

I applied and was approved for the wrong promotion. I applied for the 45,000 miles with 2K spend within 3 mos.....and would much rather prefer the 40,000 miles with 1K spend in 4 month deal as mentioned above.
I need some advice here..... as this 45,000 card did not arrive yet (thus isnt activated), is there a way to change to the 40K offer ? Please someone give me the best advice whereby I get the 40K promo instead, even if I have to apply again and not activate the first one. Thanks.

If they deny your request, I recommend you use your card to at least get the bonus you signed up for as you are now ineligible for another Citi AA card for at least 18 months regardless of whether or not you activate this card.

Thanks Happy, I read the post by it doesn't seem to mention whether the old cards should be cancelled before reapplying. It confirms that many did get approved again after waiting 18-24 months, therefore I was wonder what are people's experience, do you all cancel the old cards before reapplying or just hold and apply for another card? Thank you very much again

Selling Gift Cards
I tried to sell $200 of AA gift cards from this card on ebay, but after sending the buyer the card and pin #'s, he was kind enough to open a non-delivery dispute on paypal and insists he never bought anything from me.
The gift cards haven't been used yet. Is there any way I can use them on a refundable ticket and get them turned back into a new gift card or credit, even if I lose some portion of the value?
Thanks for any advice.

Wouldn't the existing cards affect the new application if the cardholder has maximized his/her credit line with Citi with respect to their income?

Just applied for the citi AA business card and was denied to being a previous cardholder. I am so depressed right now
I'm assuming there is nothing to do at this point, right?
BTW, it's been 12 months since I had this card

Are you sure you applied the biz card? I thought biz only requires 91 day wait.

Hello guys,
I just finished going through this thread. Thanks for all the good information, I really learned a lot from you.
Yesterday I tried versions of all the citicards.com pages (away, fly, travel and miles). Several of them are working and one of them (fly6.citicards.com) took me to the following offer (officially expired on October 31st 2011):
- 50k miles after 2.5k spending over 4 months + 2AC passes (which as this forum concluded may not be worth much)
- cards offered are VISA and AMEX for personal cards (both "select") as well as the business version.
Compared to the links in the first post these do not have the $100 back after qualifying AA purchases, but have a somewhat lower spending requirement and a landing page.
Today I tried going to the same page but the short address is no longer working. I had bookmarked the page though and I can access it like that (http://creditcards.citicards.com/usc...2EC5921A2B2AED).
Only problem is that when I click the apply now button it takes to a page saying "A system error has caused a delay in processing your application. Please try again later." Is this link gone now or just temporarily unavailable?
Any thoughts welcomed!

Possibly a stupid question but I haven't seen anything discussed here and can't get an answer from Citi.
My wife applied for both the Visa and Amex. She didn't have an AA number previously and it said in the application that one would automatically be assigned to her. As far as I can figure out, it doesn't look like was created. Can she just go to AA, create an account and then link it to her two cards? Will it automatically be linked as long as the name and address used are the same? This more of a thing to work with AA on or Citi?
Thanks in advance.
