No new comments have been approved and there are no new posts on the TSA blog since Thursday afternoon. Might this mean that some of the same people are responsible for deciding which comments to approve and deciding what to redact in other TSA postings (like the SOP on fbo.gov), and that one or more of the comment-censors are among those getting an extra-long paid holiday of administrative leave?
We certainly know that Bob has other duties besides the blog ... and that those duties usually take priority over blog maintenance. We know that several TSA folks have been placed on administrative leave; their work has to be covered by someone else. It may be the case that Bob is being pressed into other duties that have a higher priority (from a TSA perspective) than the blog. |
SOP problem cited in article
This WSJ article discusses the Obama administration looking at a centralized policy on controlled/sensitive, yet unclassified, documents.

I have no information, of course, so this is purely speculative. But I think another, less nefarious scenario may be likely.

Comments appearing on TSA blog again
Interestingly, as soon as I posted my comment above, a bunch of newly-approved comments appeared on the TSA blog. I guess someone is eager for us to know that they are still on the job...

I would like to think that but I think it has more to do with cooling us off in hopes we forget about it.
As I said, I think more innocent explanations are more likely. It's easy to see conspiracies everywhere, when sometimes, things just happen. Anyways ... the blog seems to be moving again ... |

TSA gives itself more time to respond to follow-up FOIA request
The TSA has acknowledged the Identity Project FOIA request for additional information about its procedures, but has given itself an extension of time and has denied our request for a waiver of fees on the boilerplate grounds -- clearly inappropriate in this case -- that this information doesn't concern government operations, that disclosure of these procedures isn't likely to contribute significantly to public understanding of government operations or activities, and that the interest of the Identity Project (which the TSA admits is a media organization, and which is a project of a tax-exempt non-profit educational and charitable organization) is primarily commercial.

There are going to be hearings held tomorrow afternoon by the House Homeland Security Committee. I am going to be in DC and expect to be in attendance. I am not testifying but I'm hoping to meet a couple folks in person that I've had contact with over the past couple weeks. Should be interesting to see how that plays out.

I wonder how many lies she will tell. I wish I were a drinker, I would be able to get skunked if I drank every time she lied.

At least we now know that there are about 300 DHS employees who have actually seen and maybe even read the SOP document.
