It's in the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) somewhere. The FAR is as thick as the Manhattan Yellow Pages, so it would take a while to find the requirements, even in the on-line version.

There has been some interest in the email I sent to Rep. Pet King in response to him practically begging Nappy, in a letter, to prosecute those that dared to host the poorly redacted SOP.

I have placed the email on my blog and I give permission and encourage anyone that would like to use it.

Some have suggested they wanted to send it to their own Reps, others have suggested letters to the editor, some have used it commenting on stories related to this breach of policy by the TSA.

Frankly I don't care where you post it as long as the email remains unedited.

They make it sound like some sort of low level hacker skills are required to uncover the text, when its just a cut and paste job.

Anyone can do it - if you can point and click with your mouse then you are good to go

The only "hack" was the person who redacted the document.

As far as DHS wanting to prosecute those that may be hosting copies of the SOP, or even those that downloaded it, I have been visited by DHS on my totally innocent web forum (http://rpbuilders.byethost13.com/forum/ ). My forum is about building/construction in the Philippines. I don't know if this has much to do about me visiting various websites that discussed the SOP, and even downloading a few copies, but it does have me wondering.
Anyways it is interesting that BIG BROTHER is keeping a watchful eye on us.

Interesting... I've went through my server logs. Most of my servers host websites for lawfirms and case info, as well as public sites regarding some of the fraud cases we're actively working on. Plenty of gov't visits, sometimes a few unexpected gov't agencies visiting. Mr. Madoff was apparently quite a fan whilst he still had internet access, but no visits from DHS. Shame considering the amount of money laundering investigations we've done.

Download and then host the SOP and you will be come popular like us. :D

Wow. You sound like another one of those people who believe everything the new media tells them. That little report on the news? The remark about "opting out of screening prosthetics, wheel chairs, and orthopedic shoes?" Wrong. They deliberately said screening, not x-ray. To mislead and scare you. You can't even fit a wheelchair in an x-ray machine. I have a relative with half of an arm missing. He leaves the artificial part on...and they still check it.

And when it says you can now "see what a CIA identification badge looks like"? Seeing a picture of it online is a far cry from being able to duplicate a government I.D. in anything more than a superficial manner. There are built-in security "features" that aren't *easily* visible, for one. Just like on your driver's license.

Try turning the television OFF. And while you are at it...shred your newspaper and stick it in the bottom of the bird cage, because that's about all it is good for anyway.

No, I don't see those guys at the TSA starting to making a bunch of changes over what happened.

At least we now know that there are about 300 DHS employees who have actually seen and maybe even read the SOP document.

No new comments have been approved and there are no new posts on the TSA blog since Thursday afternoon. Might this mean that some of the same people are responsible for deciding which comments to approve and deciding what to redact in other TSA postings (like the SOP on fbo.gov), and that one or more of the comment-censors are among those getting an extra-long paid holiday of administrative leave?
