Checking options for 2 night stay in Bangkok, which has a ton of nice properties, but only 7 show up as "The Edit".
Amex has 13 shown as FHR plus another dozen as "The Hotel Collection".

Both this and the severely limited number of restaurants in the dining program are making the new CSR pretty poor for me.
I have been able to use Amex Plat credits without much fuss at all.

I tend to agree: it's a real stretch to find edit hotels that aren't >$1500 for 2 nights. On the plus side, I've decided: Chase letting you pay the rest of the charge with points at $0.02/point (so really it's like 12,500 points off certain high-priced hotels if you think about it that way). Makes it easier to stomach. Still: I reckon many will rather see the $250 perk expire.

Since folks are in the topic of cancelling this card:
Personally between the dining, the general travel, the occasional Lyft, and apple music I'm at $800 value organically. The 🍎 TV, doordash promos support the value, if not organically. I'll find ways to use the StubHub credits to get out more. And from there I'll be happy if every few years I can max out the edit benefit without going out of my way on hotel spend (though next year a stay in Hong Kong will get me into The Kerry for 215/nt after credit). But as you've pointed out: AMEX credits should definitely be prioritized and are much better value proposition. Last thing: don't forget that by keeping the card open you keep 1.5c/pt redemptions alive for 2 more years.

I scrolled back about a month and didn't see any discussion about:
"Any purchases that qualify for the $500 Credit for stays with The Edit will not earn points."

As written, this policy is absolutely ridiculous since the cost of a stay may be much larger than the credit and would normally earn 8x. Has anyone gotten the credits and can confirm whether the policy is as punitive as the T&Cs say or if it's expressed incorrectly and you just don't earn points on the $250?

Yes, you will get the points on the remaining dollars after the credit is applied. This was just rediscussed a few days ago.

Sorry, my post was in the new CSR thread and there was nothing about it there going back a month as I mentioned, but I suppose any posts that were have been moved here like mine has been.

I looked but must have overlooked this discussion... In any case: if, say, I book a $750 edit hotel I understand I'd earn 500*8 points (4000). But say I cover the $500 paying with 25000 points in lieu of dollars: will that still earn 4000 points? I'm guessing not?

You only earn points on actual dollars spent.

When you use points, it's not even charged to your card, unlike how Amex Travel processes it. So no charge = no points.

FWIW I'm looking at hotels in Madrid on Xmas day for two nights and I see a few EDIT options that are not crazily expensive, like the Intercontinental for $343/night or the Palacio de los Duques for $500/night. Though I realize the timing might be impacting those prices too...

In any case, I'll book something on or after the 26th so I get the EDIT credit. Or maybe we should call it the crEDIT.

The hotels that are designated EDIT hotels, you are supposed to get the following:

Daily breakfast for 2
Room upgrade at check-in, if available
$100 property credit (includes dining, spa or other activities at the property)
Early check-in/late check-out, if available
Welcome amenity
Wi-Fi

How does the hotel know that it is supposed to provide these benefits?
Thanks

Just a quick note: There are many Edit hotels that do not feature this entire list of benefits.
In my research to see if the CSR still makes sense for me, coming across many Edit hotels that do not include breakfast. Noticed some do not include Welcome Amenity.

This seems to be a very hotel-by-hotel situation, not consistent.

I'm curious, what are some examples you've seen that don't list breakfast as included?

I think they are referring to the welcome amenity. Everything else should be standard and offered on every booking.

Numerous of the Las Vegas properties. Some have the breakfast, some don't.
Aria does not have breakfast, as an example.

I haven't notice any of the callouts for Welcome Amenity, so not sure what to make of that.

Interesting. Not entirely surprising, since the Vegas properties tend to be stingy anyway, though Amex does manage to enforce breakfast there (or at least something approaching breakfast -- the $ credit amounts offered don't always stretch that far at Strip prices) for FHR properties.

At the same time, Aria is THC, not FHR, in Amex's portfolio, so Amex doesn't get you breakfast there either. Which is also odd since THC is generally lower-end than FHR, but for the most part Edit seems to map to the higher end of FHR. Frankly, if it meant bringing some more affordable THC-level properties into the pool for using the CSR credits, I wouldn't mind if more Edit properties skipped breakfast...

To me the problem is Edits is so subpar compared to AMEX equivalent. This combined with Resy/Tables I don’t know how I could justify the higher fee. It seems like Chase wanted to promote these things, but in getting me to check them out I notice how bad they are. I just paid the annual fee, but certainly won’t again at the higher rate.

It may have answered before, does the Edit hotel booking through Chase Travel earn hotel elite qualifying nights? I know Amex FHR does, but don't know whether Chase Edit does. Thanks!
