Really not enjoying these no-notice devaluations across the board. And I assume Chase thought most folks wouldn’t notice.
Seeing that Chase can pull the rug on the 2 cpp at a property at any time, I quickly booked another Edit hotel that I was considering that is still 2 cpp in order to lock that in and I have until 3 days prior to check in to cancel. I redeemed 51k points after the $250 credit which is equal to 25.5k points per night. This property is part of LHW (Leading Hotels of the World) and booking with Leaders Club Points which I don't have and I believe is only a transfer partner of Citi would have cost 32k Citi points per night under the current bonus transfer rate which is 4:1 (or 1,000:250), but normally would be 40k Citi points since the standard transfer rate is 5:1 (or 1,000:200). So I feel like I got a pretty good deal with this one.

I haven't checked super-recently, but IME, there are still some 2.0 cent properties (both within and outside of Edit), ...
I was under the impression that the 2 cpp value was exclusively for the Edit bookings to begin with until they axed that to 1.65 cpp for majority of properties and then gave you a measly 9 of them across the entire world at 2.5 cpp. Sorry, but I for one am not going to have my travel plans revolve around a few properties Chase decided to give us at 2.5 cpp. |
Here is the list of properties that can be purchased at 2.5cpm - mostly uber high end

If I find a hotel that is Edits and IHG and it is only 350 dollars for 2 nights will I still get both the IHG and Edits credit, essentially making money on the stay?

You will get $350 total in credits. You will not get more than you paid.

*Cross posting in both FHR and CSR threads*
Has anyone here tried booking back to back FHR and The Edit stays at the same hotel? What’s your experience with the benefits/credits? We are planning to stay at the Belliagio next month mainly to use up my wife’s CSR The Edit credit. I plan to book the first night using FHR and the remaining 2 nights through The Edit. Both programs offer $100 property credit, daily breakfast, and late check out. My priorities are: Benefits we want to keep:
Don’t mind losing one of the two:
Looking forward to hearing your experiences on this and TIA! |

Looking forward to hearing your experiences on this and TIA! I think would do FHR after Edit because that always comes with guaranteed late checkout and Edit doesn't always. Unless you don't need the late checkout or it's guaranteed with Edit for this hotel as well then you can do it in the opposite order as you were planning to. |
Interestingly enough I just booked a stay in Pittsburgh and both the Fairmont and Renaissance hotels, which are not part of the Edit program, were bookable at 2 cents per point through the points boost offerings...

That's a great find. I wish there was a way to know which non Edit properties have this type of points boost value (2 cpp) but I'm going to assume Chase will keep switching them up like they did with airline bookings.

I did 3 nights at the Ritz Tyson's Corner for Easter and received the benefits of both. The desk staff didn't seem surprised at all when I requested the same room for both reservations or that one card was mine and the other my husband's. When booking make sure you check which order is cheaper - FHR first or The Edit first. I found a significant difference.

Adding Edit IHG Res to Account?
I'm sure this has been addressed already but didn't find it. I booked the InterContinental in NYC and got both credits (Edit + IHG). The reservation doesn't show in my IHG app, even though I added my IHG number to it when booking. When I try to add it in the app, it finds the reservation but says there was an issue linking it to my account due to how it was booked. Will I still get IHG points/credit? Will I still get status recognition?
Thanks |
I've yet to use the Edit benefits.
When you book an edit hotel and you check in--does the hotel confirm your credits? I'm primarily looking at using The Edit in Vegas. I know some people have talked about booking The Bellagio, MGM, Aria, etc. Have people actually gotten early check-in thanks to their Edit benefits? I'm far too familiar with the "We can do an early check-in if you want the more expensive room and you have to pay the early check-in fee for each day." I worry about still getting that run-around even with the Edit booking. Do they honor the early check-in thing from the Edit? As far as dining credits within the casinos--do they give you a list of where you can use breakfast/dining credits? Is it just anywhere within that given property? |
