I too did a dummy booking using the Sofitel Frankfurt (which is the only Edit hotel in FRA) for a date I needed next month. Via Chase Edit the Classic Room is $584 for the night and on the Sofitel site it is $485 which is a huge difference! Not sure who is paying close to $600 a night in FRA anyway with the hotel options there. I think this benefit is going to be all bark and no bite but I will check some other trips I have coming up.

What made FHR unique is that you can book one night and get $200 off. And THC expands the hotels to lower tier more affordable options. I’m sure there are many people who are already booking these hotels and would be willing to shift their purchases there (which hurts travel advisor business) and people who are may be willing to stretch their budget to stay at nicer hotels. But it’s definitely not a coupon for people whose aim is to save money. |
i wish there were a list to search of Edit hotels. I can look up a city then see which hotels are Edit but not see where Edit hotels are in California, for example.

https://www.awardtravel.co/blog/the-edit-by-chase-list The list above is handy when I go search myself on https://www.chase.com/travel/the-edit |

https://www.awardtravel.co/blog/the-edit-by-chase-list No guarantees from me for accuracy and completeness. Edit: Need beat me to it; should have read the entire set of new posts before replying. |
I booked a Edit stay through Chase and charges show pending from "CL CHASE TRAVEL". I assume thats okay and I should see the $250 credit soon after the charges post. Is that correct? I had booked through the Chase portal.

This is in contrast to the $300 C1 VX credit which is deducted from the total at the time of booking. |
If I book a hotel with "The Edit" benefits on Chase's portal with UR points for my parents or inlaws, do they get the benefits for their stay even if they don't have a CSR card?
FHR terms are more strict about, "Card Member must be traveling on the itinerary booked." |

Regarding booking hotels through the Chase portal...
The hotels that are designated EDIT hotels, you are supposed to get the following: Daily breakfast for 2 Room upgrade at check-in, if available $100 property credit (includes dining, spa or other activities at the property) Early check-in/late check-out, if available Welcome amenity Wi-Fi How does the hotel know that it is supposed to provide these benefits? Thanks CHASE LHRC Exclusive Rate, deposit required Additional Information Non-Commissionable Rate Rate includes complimentary breakfast for 2 daily (60 USD value), early check in and late check out (if available), Welcome amenity and GM note welcoming guest. Upgrade of room type (if available). -100 USD Resort Credit -The credit can only be used on Incidental spend that has incurred during the stay, up to 100 USD. This includes dining, spa services and hotel recreational activities that are not managed by a third party. - Credit must be used during the original reservation and is not valid on consecutive reservations in the same hotel. - The credit cannot be applied toward the room rate and is not valid on Room and tax, gratuities, service charges, or services provided by a third party. Excludes alcohol where prohibited by local ordinances. - There will be no refund issued on any unused portion of the credit. - The credit is nontransferable and cannot be combined with any other offer or promotion. Chase shows $4642 for room + $737 in taxes. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...4a435a8fc8.png Once I booked that and linked the reservation to my loyalty account and then clicked on the "upcoming reservations", it shows $4104 for room + $737 in taxes. So Chase is adding about 13% to the base room rate (not Marriott). https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...dd1ac832be.png |

I have one data point. I booked a "The Edit" hotel (with points boost) that's Marriott affiliated. Once linked with my Marriott #, the rate shows up as:
CHASE LHRC Exclusive Rate, deposit required Another observation. The $$ price Chase was showing was 12% higher than FHR, Citi 4NF and Marriott.com, but the 2x points boost plus breakfast made it still worth it to book that way this time (getting about 1.78 cents per point instead of 2 if you use the non-Chase price). I can see how Marriott reports the Chase booked rate vs. what Chase says, and how Chase is marking up the room rate Marriott is charging (but keeping the taxes identical). Is there an easy way to identify Edit Hotels? Let's use this as an example. I'd like to put together a trip flying into Santa Rosa. We know the area well, and have traveled most directions from the airport on trips over many years. I'm open to considering hotels within 100 miles of Santa Rosa.
Mendocino - no hotels shown Santa Rosa - no hotels shown Healdsburg - many hotels shown Sebastopol - many hotels shown, mostly overlap with Healdsburg How can I search without needing to know the geography of the area? |

I am concerned about finding value from this benefit. I particularly dislike the nonrefundable requirement.
I looked specifically in Sonoma. The least expensive option was a Marriott property where I have stayed before. It is the Lodge at Sonoma. a 2 night nonrefundable stay begins at $899. A 2 night stay on the Marriott website is $765, also nonrefundable. A refundable 2 night stay is $883. An Edit booking is $145 more for the 2 nights. Yes, I get a $300 rebate - but I have to commit to the dates. It's been years since I've made a nonrefundable booking. Yes, I get a $100 credit. But I've stayed here and wouldn't choose to eat here given the fantastic array of restaurants in the area. Yes, I get breakfast - but I do get a small credit as a titanium from Marriott. I feel as though I really have to contort myself to book this and it certainly doesn't give me a $300 value. What are others booking that you really feel you are getting value while staying somewhere you genuinely want to be? |
