However, later the same day I also requested the credit by Secure Message (for "baggage fees) and it was approved. Very YMMV now but still doable. 2/10/2017
Southwest Airlines GCs work fairly easily. I've generally bought them for $150 and said they're excess baggage fees.

I heard Chase is offering 10x points for restaurants and gas starting 7/14. Is this true?

Anyone know for sure, my free night posted before the annual fee. Now annual fee just posted. They don't claw back the free night, right? Such a great card, I hate to dump it...

They shouldn't and you shouldn't cancel the card... the value proposition is so good on this card.

IME both work, but haven’t tried with a fare difference way north of the credit amount.

My renewal comes up in Aug and I'm debating keeping open vs closing. In your opinion, why is the value so high? To me it just seems like a card that has a semi-easy $300 credit to use and a 50K cert for $150. I don't ever have paid stays at Ritz so the club upgrades don't do anything for me. I already have priority pass through CSR. The companion air ticket is gone too. Am I missing something else?

I purchase upgrades through the app to a cabin up. I travel for work, book economy, and then upgrade it through the app to first class.

I would've canceled my CSR this year if Chase didn't credit my account $100 to offset the fee due to Coved-19.
I had to search to verify, but the Ritz card and the CSR both offer a Global Entry credit every 4 years.

The big differential is the Priority Pass membership with the Ritz offers UNLIMITED GUESTS compared to 2 with the CSR. This may not be a big deal.
However, the Ritz also allows you to add free authorized users compared to paying $75 with the CSR.
Each Ritz authorized user also gets their own Priority Pass Membership with unlimited guests. Some have said you can only add 6 authorized users for free, while others have said unlimited. I have added just 3 myself.
It's nice if you want to give other family members Priority Pass access to be a nice brother, father, son, or husband, etc.
If you add them as an authorized user, Chase will mail the credit card and Priority Pass card separately, so you don't have to hand them a credit card, just the Priority Pass card that will get them lounge access.
I also think the Ritz card has Primary Rental Car insurance just like the CSR, but I never rent cars, so hopefully someone else can verify that if car rentals are important to you.
Good Luck.

If you maximize all the benefits of the CSR to justify the $550 fee, I can understand why you may want to cancel the Ritz card. However, I would recommend canceling the CSR instead. Obviously, the CSR has an even easier travel credit to use, but the annual fee is also $100 higher at $550

you tried to sign up here? https://www.chase.com/mybonus. It worked for me, here’s the terms:
1To be eligible for this bonus offer, you must activate by 09/15/20 11:59 p.m. E.T. You will earn a total of 10 points for each $1 spent, on up to $3,500 in total combined purchases, in the restaurant and gas station categories from 07/15/2020 to 09/15/2020. That’s 9, 8, 7, or 6 points on top of the 1, 2, 3, or 4 points you already earn on those purchases with your card, depending on the category and which Marriott credit card you are using. Merchants who accept Visa/Mastercard credit cards are assigned a merchant code, which is determined by the merchant or its processor in accordance with Visa/Mastercard procedures based on the kinds of products and services they primarily sell. We group similar merchant codes into categories for purposes of making rewards offers to you. Please note: We make every effort to include all relevant merchant codes in our rewards categories. However, even though a merchant or some of the items that it sells may appear to fit within a rewards category, the merchant may not have a merchant code in that category. When this occurs, purchases with that merchant won’t qualify for rewards offers on purchases in that category. Purchases submitted by you, an authorized user, or the merchant through third-party payment accounts, mobile or wireless card readers, online or mobile digital wallets, or similar technology will not qualify in a rewards category if the technology is not set up to process the purchase in that rewards category. For more information about Chase rewards categories, chase.com/RewardsCategoryFAQs. Purchases posted to your account with a transaction date during the offer period are eligible for this offer. Delays by the merchant, such as shipping, could extend the transaction date beyond the offer period. Please allow up to 8 weeks after qualifying purchases post to your account for points to post to your account. (“Purchases” do not include balance transfers, cash advances, travelers checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers or similar cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, race track wagers or similar betting transactions, any checks that access your account, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, and fees of any kind, including an annual fee, if applicable.) To qualify for this bonus offer, account must be open and not in default at the time of fulfillment. This bonus offer is non-transferable. Eligible credit cards: Marriott Bonvoy BoundlessTM Credit Card, Marriott BonvoyTM Premier Plus Business Credit Card, The Ritz-CarltonTM Credit Card, Marriott BonvoyTM Credit Card, Marriott BonvoyTM Premier Credit Card, and Marriott Bonvoy BusinessTM Credit Card.
