However, later the same day I also requested the credit by Secure Message (for "baggage fees) and it was approved. Very YMMV now but still doable. 2/10/2017
Southwest Airlines GCs work fairly easily. I've generally bought them for $150 and said they're excess baggage fees.

Since American Express got rid of their return protection on their base Marriott cards I've been using my Ritz card more often for certain non-returnable purchases. The upside is that it's $500 per item up to $1,000 a year (I believe Amex was limited to $300 per purchase). The downside is that the Ritz card requires you to pay to ship. Years ago Amex stopped charging for return protection and purchase protection shipping if I remember correctly.
As far as purchase protection the Ritz card covers up to $10,000 per claim. Not sure if Amex Marriott card was, but I recall they almost never asked you to ship back an item under $300 that had a claim. Any experiences with purchase protection on the Ritz?

Curious if anyone has put in claim yet for return protection. Amex was so easy to deal with. Most of the time, they did not want item back and credited within 10 days of submitting claim. My annual fee was due but I was not given any incentive offer to keep. Still contemplating what to do.

Looks like Resturants / Grocery Store Reimbursement Coming
Doctor of Credit is reposting (from Reddit) that our card may be getting reimbursements for grocery stores and restaurants in the coming days/weeks.
I called in June, and was told to go away, that it was only for airline incidentals. Here's looking forward to some progress

She also said that the new policy only happened 1-2 days ago and that the changes were now clearly posted in their internal memos/communications.
I really can't blame the first rep, since the Ritz card hasn't been publicly available for over 2 years and I too am guilty of not always being immediately aware at my own job every time new policies and procedures are implemented.
I am also ecstatic that Chase is doing this until the end of the year, since most should have no trouble spending $300 on restaurants and groceries within the nest 4 months. She did mention that bigger stores, like Walmart, will not always code a Groceries, even for grocery purchases, so my advice is to put through a small charge to see how it posts and whether it qualifies before trying a larger transaction.
I am still a little surprised, since I thought Chase may choose to exclude an already discontinued card, but hopefully others will have similar positive experiences in the coming weeks and months.

Hi,
I have two annual free night certificates are expiring end of August. Which number do I call to ask for extension?
Thanks.

Hi, it is the ones when I first opened the Chase Ritz Card in 2018 (redeem up to 60K per night). I was able to extend them last year, but forgot which number I called. These two certificates did not automatically get extended this year.

Glad to hear about the $300. I too was told "nope" in June. Glad they changed their mind. I actually am traveling once this year (eek I know), and can use $60 of the credit but will have no issues using up the rest on other things.

It is funny: I was just about to make a post about how to use the travel credit in this climate.
Aside from this promotion, assuming it happens does anyone else have an idea? I was going to just add a year of Alaska Lounge membership.
