If you feel your account has been unfairly closed, consider filing a complaint with the Consumer Protection Financial Bureau:

CFPB's complaint form: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/complaint/

When someone reports an account closure here, a lot of the same questions get asked. It might be useful to answer some questions in advance. This could help figure out what happened or how to proceed:
  1. Did you transfer UR points to someone with a different address? Different last name?
  2. Did you sell UR points to someone?
  3. Approximately what percentage of your charges earned less than 5x points in the past 12 months?
  4. Did a Chase or non-Chase bank recently close one of your credit cards?
  5. Are you using up a large percentage of your credit line on all Chase and non-Chase credit cards?
  6. Is your total credit line with Chase much higher than with other banks?
  7. Did you apply for many credit cards or other forms of credit in the past 2 months? ("Many" may be hard to define.)
  8. If you have a Chase checking account how much did you typically deposit in money orders per month, if any?
  9. Did you recently start spending a lot more with Chase than in typical months?
  10. Is your monthly balance frequently close to your credit limit?
  11. Approximately what percentage of spending was on gift cards this year?
  12. How much of your bill do you typically pay using WM or KMart bill payment if any?
  13. Do you have a Chase mortgage or other account that might be profitable to Chase?
  14. Has your credit score or credit profile changed recently? As in: significantly more debt, more open credit lines, or a large drop in your credit score?

Was approved for Ritz Carlton card 14 months later and did nothing unusual with it, other than lower CL from 30K to 10K to free up CL for possible approvals. Tried EX Office- they seem to have zero power once the Mullah in loss prevention has issued a fatwa (my guess: some 27 year old with a god complex).

Anyone knows what would the likely scenario be if wife gets shut down but not husband and then husband sometime later adds wife as an AU? Would that likely lead to husband also getting the axe?

That would be incredibly unwise.

Yes. In fact, if you read this thread from start to finish you will see that just having an active Chase account with a banned spouse puts you at risk.

As others have said, don't do it. Additionally, Husband should consider end-game strategies. That is, maximizing his UR acquisition and usage while it's still possible. I'm not suggesting hog wild MS, merely deliberative expediency. Good luck.

Fair enough I figured this was the case. I did read most if not all of this thread but it is hard to remember everything and the various updates/gyrations. Thanks for the refresh though!

Any idea why the shutdown? Heavy MS, cycling credit lines, WM bill pay, MOs deposited at Chase, or opening a recent card at Chase?

So you're speculating your wife will get shut down? What about you, same activity or no activity?

Is it my imagination or are there fewer reports of late? Did Chase's heart grow by two sizes?

I'd wager that people have just gotten more cautious.

Just got shutdown today. Funny thing is they stated too many new accounts but the last 2 were chase accounts they just approved ..... and that one account was close by the issuer > that was the Virgin America card they closed when Virgin and Alaska merged ...

Unfortunately I completed the 3k Iberia spend but probably won't see the 50k bonus for that ....

That's the thing: New Chase accounts are what trigger the review.

Hey guys first post,

After reading through pages and pages I am a little worried about possibly being targeted for shutdown. I currently sit at 8/24 with 3 of those cards being Chase. All 3 were opened in September/October of 17 with two of them being personal (Hyatt/IHG) and one being Business (Marriott).

I have never MS before but figured I would try it out since the whole OD/OM $15 off $300 VGC this week and also me getting 5x points for having the old Chase Ink card (have had it for 4 years now). I have a total credit limit of $19,000 on this card and have put about $5,000 worth of VGC in $400 increments within the last 3 days. I was planning on putting another $10,000 on it by the time the promo with OD/OM ends on 4/14/18. Once the promo ends I dont plan on doing any MS until another similar promo comes along. I am putting the MO I get from Walmart into my CU account and paying off the charges through there, which is the account that has been paying it off since I opened it 4 years ago.

Am I just being paranoid? Should I just flat out stop, pump the brakes a little or just keep going?

And that is weird .... they caused the problem by opening the accounts and then closing all off them ....
