Chase seems to have made an about face in regards to them approving cards. It now seems like it's very difficult to get a new Chase card if you've had any inquiries in the past two years now.

Not going home at all. Instantly approved for another 50K miles AA EXEC on Friday. 8 days from now I'll be applying for a TYP Premier. Followed by another AS card.

I'm just applying where I have an excellent chance of being approved, which is Citi and B of A, and avoiding where I have a very high chance of being denied, which is Chase.

And my point is not to just go on and on about this, but that when someone posts their out of date data points, which right now with Chase is anything over a week ago, I'm pointing that out. Someone who hasn't been following the generic Chase thread and comes here for advice on applying for an IHG card, deserves to be made aware of the brand new Chase policy.

I got an email saying my free night is on it's way on Jun 3. I still have received it yet. Should I be concerned?

The website has an issue - last I read, only the UK site shows the free night cert (of any kind). Change to UK site and you may see it listed in your account.

Else, call IHG member service and inquire the status of the cert which normally shows up in the Week of your anniversary date.

I got an email and a card in the mail a couple weeks before my free night posted.

The free night was in my account on 6/15 and my anniversary is 6/17.

I'm not sure if it was possible in the past ( as some suggested) but this year but I could not add a second persons name to the reservation ( that can check in to the room) like you can with a points reservation.

Maybe you could call and add a second name but it was not an option online.

Wow, you would be the first report of them matching the 80k points AND the $50 statement credit.

Yea, I was surprised as well after getting the replies back. Maybe they figured they can be a little bit more generous now that they are denying applicants left and right?

First SM:

Hello,

I recently signed up for the IHG Card with an offer of 70,000 points for spending $1,000 within 3 months. Recently I was looking at booking hotels on the IHG website and was shown an offer for this card, but for 80,000 points for spending $1,000 in the first 3 months plus a $50 statement credit after the first purchase. I'm wondering if it's possible to be matched to this better offer, since I obviously can't sign up for the card again.

Thank You.
That one was denied.

Second SM:

Hello,

I recently applied for and was approved for the IHG Card with a bonus offer of 70,000 points. Shortly after applying I saw an advertisement on the IHG website for 80,000 points on this card. I was hoping that you could match me to this higher offer.

Thanks,

mnCO
This request was approved....just today, actually.

I'm going to be staying at an IHG hotel soon so I'm going to get this card tomorrow (60k miles +$50 offer).

I have exactly new credit cards the past 2 years. Is this going to be a problem? High credit score, Chase checking/savings user, great credit (high 700s).

I hope it's really just the Sapphire and Freedom and Chase brands catching churners. Any experience lately?
