Decided to go with the 80K before it disappeared ... I can live with the loss of the missing $50 statement credit as breaks of the credit game. However, I was shocked that the CL was twice what I was expecting.

My last ~4 chase cards since 12/04 have all come with ~30K CL's. The first thing I do is lower them down to ~7-8K range, I don't want that much CL of which I'll never use hardly any. The Ritz I lowered to ~1500

8/5 Approved for Chase IHG 60k +$50 (had targeted email for 80k)
8/18 Hit $1000 spend
8/21 $50 credit posted
9/7 60k points posted. Sent SM about extra 20k and attached email
9/8 Offered me 20k if I give back $50

Hoped they wouldn't ask for the $50 back, but even with this as the worst case, it's fair. Took the 20k

Sent SM to Chase on 8/5 asking for confirmation that I signed up for 80K points with $50 credit (always best to play dumb ).

Received a reply on 8/7 stating my offer was 60K points with $50 statement credit, but that they will honor both the 80K points and $50 credit.

Hope this helps!

Just an update:

Minimum spend met on 9/4, sent SM to Chase on 9/7, received response on 9/8 confirming extra 20K points to be credited next statement. The $50 credit also posted on my first statement and has not been taken back.

Same here, got $50 early in the cycle and 60k + 20k pts after the statement had closed.

This showed up while checking an upcoming reservation: 60,000 + $100 after spend + no fee 1st year
https://creditcards.chase.com/a1/ihg...s100?CELL=6VBF

Fake booking still brings up the 80,000 + $50 after spend + no fee 1st year

I've added both to the wiki with the caveat that they are targeted or semi-targeted at the very least. (When I try to access the app pages, I get an offer-not-valid redirect.)

Just signed up for 60K + $50 credit offer. At first the application didn't go through -- called the reconsideration hotline and apparently I had put in the wrong state under address...

Anyone know how long after applying would the IHG Platinum status show up under my account? Got a couple of stays coming up in October.

Heya!

I recently received an email, which I assume is a targetted offer for 80K points

May I ask for advice -- should I take it, should I try to go greedy and ask for more (e.g. $50 statement credit), or should I wait and see?

Dear maradori,

The IHG® Rewards Select Credit Card provides you with perks that can simplify every trip away from home. Apply by 10/29/2015 and earn 80,000 points, which is enough for 8 Free Nights at over 400 hotels, after spending $1,000 on purchases in the first 3 months of account opening.* This product is available to you if you do not have this card and have not received a new cardmember bonus for this product in the past 24 months.

Yes. See the wiki at http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/inter...ards-club.html for a detailed explanation.

Got a targeted offer for 60k + $50 credit, looking forward to getting the new card (with the $50 annual fee easy to write off because of the free night every year absorbing all of that)

Their website didn't mention anywhere about the points being transferrable to any other programs/ultimate rewards. Is it possible?

Not to UR. They can be transferred to airlines at extremely terrible ratios:

http://www.ihg.com/hotels/us/en/glob...-rewards/miles

There's really no good reason to transfer IHG points to anything else. Maybe if you had an experience at an IHG property that was so terrible that you swore you'd never stay in one again even if it was free......

I'm new to hotel cards - if there is a room that costs 50k points per the IHG website, but the view is not what I want, can I somehow use points + cash to upgrade the room or am I essentially stuck with the worst room when booking with points?
