If you use BA Avios points to book an AA flight from what I understand ( please correct if I'm wrong) a flight that required 30,000 AA miles booked on AA Advantage site would require a 1:1 ...30,000 Avios points.
ICT-ORD RT BA: 9k Avios AA: 25k AAdvantage LAX-JFK RT BA: 25k Avios AA: 25k AAdvantage LAX-DFW-CDG RT BA: 70k Avios AA: 40k/60k AAdvantage (off-peak/peak)

Are there additional charges or fees when booking through BA website using the Avios points ...VS.... using Advantage miles on the AA site ????
For domestic AA flights, BA always has lower fees. |

That's incorrect. AA and Avios use polar-opposite schemes for determining mileage price. AA uses a zone-based system and BA uses a mileage based system. Here are sample prices for the following itineraries, all on AA metal:
ICT-ORD RT BA: 9k Avios AA: 25k AAdvantage LAX-JFK RT BA: 25k Avios AA: 25k AAdvantage LAX-DFW-CDG RT BA: 70k Avios AA: 40k/60k AAdvantage (off-peak/peak) In general BA has less in booking fees than AA. In general BA has higher fuel surcharges than AA. You need to properly research your particular itinerary. For domestic AA flights, BA always has lower fees. How about.... LGA to POP ....... or ...... LGA to MDE if you would be so kind. Tnx. |

I'm looking for JFK - IST in TK Comfort Class and it seems the Ultimate Rewards travel site can't pull this, anyone else seen this problem or know a way around it?
Thanks |
This thead is about the Chase Sapphire credit card and related benefits. There are threads about all these other matters, such as reward costs and strategy and post here should be on topic.

Domestic AA flights are bookable on AA site therefore no telephone booking fee. Both programs dont charge fuel surcharges on the US-domestic flights. What fee you are talking about? other than the close-in booking fee that AA charges for non-elites versus BA does not charge such? OTOH, AA does not charge change fee while BA charges $70 a pop.

People would be better off to study the programs on their own via various sources of info found on FT forums and on airline websites instead of trying to get a quick answer because obviously there is no fast rule governs what is better - all depends on what you want to do. This thread certainly is NOT the place to discuss the pro and con AA versus Avios. There are MULTIPLE threads on BA forum address such issue especially after the Nov 2011 devaluation. |
I made a purchase online through the UR portal from Nordstrom yesterday. When I went to check out I noticed it gave the option to do in-store pickup. I checked the T&C's and saw nothing that indicated I would not get the points if I did in-store pickup. Anyone have any experience with this? Does it post the same as if you bought online and had it shipped?

Can't speak to Nordstrom, but I know I've gotten rewards points for BestBuy and JC Penney purchases made online with store pickup. I expect it depends on whether the order is sent to the store and charged there or sent to the store as "prepaid."

You'll get it. I bought my wife a handbag online at Nordstrom and picked it up in store 1.5 hours later and got the bonus points.
Now I think I might return what I bought so I'm curious if they'll still post. |
I've had good luck with order online at home depot and pick up in store. It takes about an hour or so for the order to be ready, but we're in the middle of a kitchen remodel and are 5for5 on bonus points.

I had the opposite experience with a Home Depot store pick up. No points, and it was supposed to be 10x points. I was very disappointed. OTOH, it worked just fine with a KMart store pick up. In fact, I ended up returning the item and the bonus points were not taken away.
