Is there a way to earn bonus UR points on Amazon gift cards through the UR mall? I tried looking through the UR mall and I don't see any merchants that sell Amazon.com gift cards.

You can use your Chase Freedom card at a grocery store and buy Amazon gift cards. Current 5% category includes grocery stores.

Then you can transfer the UR points earned on the Freedom card to your Sapphire Preferred account.

I don't see any other way to do it, please correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks. Forgot to mention I only have a Sapphire Preferred card, not a Freedom card.

AAdvantage

Has anyone succesfully transfered points 1:1 to American Airlines? They are not listed but I read somewhere that you can transfer over to British Airways and book AA flights from there.

I'm trying to beef up my AA points to go to Australia. I'm either getting the sapphire or the Citi Aadvantage but chase seems to have better rewards, 40k vs 30k signup and the other benefits.

You cannot transfer Chase UR to American Airlines miles. As you point out having read elsewhere, you can transfer UR to BA Avios points, and use your BA Avios points (in your BA account) to book an award flight on One World partners (including AA). Note the critical distinction. Also, be aware of the vastly different redemption costs for booking award travel with AA miles as opposed to BA Avios points.

No, this cannot be done. In fact, there was extensive discussion of this issue up-thread over the past few days.

Yes, you can transfer to BA and book awards on OneWorld partners, including AA.

There IS a sort of second-hand way to convert UR points to AA miles, but it's only a good idea in a VERY specific situation. Marriott Rewards offers hotel+miles packages, where you get 7 nights+50k miles, with AA as one of the miles partners. This is really only a good deal if you were already planning to redeem for one of these packages, but it shows that it is possible, in a convoluted sort of way, to convert UR points to AA miles via Marriott Rewards.

Marriott points do not transfer to American airlines anymore, so this won't work.

I stand corrected. In any case, this is a backdoor way of transferring UR points to non-UR partner airline programs if you happen to also be planning a 7-night MR redemption.

Has anyone ever used the "Price Protection" benefit???? I bought a Galaxy Nexus phone from amazon.com for $494 like 6 weeks ago and of course now Google is selling them direct for $399. Since I "found a lower advertized price within 90 days", I filed a claim for $95 under Sapphire Preferred's "Price Protection" benefit just now. The guy on the phone sounded like it would be no problem at all, the $95 price difference was practically a done deal, but the actual paperwork is a little vague about the eligibility of on-line purchases and lower on-line sale prices vs brick and mortar stores and published print ad sale prices. I mailed in all the requested paperwork today and I presume I will be waiting quite a while for the results so I was curious if anyone else has any first hand experience with this benefit.

If it works out just that easy, that's a really cool feature when buying various new gadgets and tech items because you know every time you buy some new gizmo it will be cheaper next week whenever the newer better one comes out.

Keep us posted please if you get the price difference

Followup...... I discovered you can check your claim status on-line at http://www.eclaimsline.com once it is in there system. The site appears to be the rental car collision waiver claim site but shows "Price Protection" claims as well. This morning I logged in and found my "Price Protection" claim was approved and a check for $95.39 is in the mail. That's totally awesome. I love this card. A definite keeper. Not churning this one.

So to sum up. I bought an unlocked, no-contract Galaxy Nexus phone on-line for $494.39 from amazon.com back on March 24 and paid with my Sapphire Preferred Visa. Like a month later Google started selling the same phone directly for $399. I called Chase CS May 3 about the "Price Protection" benefit and was transferred to "Enhancement Services" who opened the claim on the phone for $95.39 and e-mailed me a claim form which I returned that day by snail mail with copies of the on-line Amazon invoice and the Google web site ad I printed myself. I was careful to take a highlighter and highlight all of the language in both the invoice and the ad showing it was the same exact model of phone, unlocked and no contract. It was apparently approved yesterday so 10 day turn around on the claim. That was cool and appears to be inconsistent with the language in the printed benefit guide excluding internet ads but is entirely consistent with what I was told by the rep on the phone.

Even better is the fact that at the $494 price from Amazon I paid no shipping and no CA sales tax but from Google at $399 I would have paid $41.42 in CA sales tax and shipping so it really would have still cost me $441. But since sales tax and shipping are excluded from "Price Protection" I got the whole $95 difference down to the $399 base price.

What are people seeing for a timeframe on points posting from the UR mall? I made a booking through the UR mall on hotels.com a week ago (supposed to be 4x) and still nothing is showing. I see the note from Chase says up to 8 weeks but wondering what others are experiencing. Thanks in advance.

So I forgot to cancel my card after 11.5 months and got hit with the annual fee (I could/should have seen that one coming). I called CS and requested cancellation if I could with the fee being removed. She instead said I could downgrade to the non-preferred card and my fee would be refunded. I decided to just do that but I'm wondering if they would have just let me cancel while refunding me my fee?

No harm done really as I can always cancel this new card now if I so choose. If I keep it through January I wonder if I get a retroactive 7% dividend for my points earned up to this point or if I just won't receive anything at all.

Can I transfer my UR points to Southwest and then convert those to Airtran A+?

If you use BA Avios points to book an AA flight from what I understand ( please correct if I'm wrong) a flight that required 30,000 AA miles booked on AA Advantage site would require a 1:1 ...30,000 Avios points.

Are there additional charges or fees when booking through BA website using the Avios points ...VS.... using Advantage miles on the AA site ????
