BEA $200 for $2,000 spending offer 20/7 - 19/9

http://www.hongkongcard.com/forum/fo...ow.php?id=5574

$200 rebate per $2,000 spending over target, max $400 per month
Call 3608 6608 for target

My target is $4,500
So if I spend $8,500 with $4,000 in dining, I get $400 rebate - my rate 4.7% - OK!

Notes on T&C:
1. This time they did not ban "dining outlets in hotels". They did for March-May promotion
2. "purchase of cash coupons" still banned - tho how can they tell?!
3. Noted "spending in non-designated categories counted first" - OK.
4. Noted a. "the Cardholder will be given a spending target for each phase, which will be applicable to all Eligible Accounts" b. "Each Eligible Account will be entitled to receive the Reward separately" and c. "Transactions of different principal card accounts cannot be transferred or combined." - so using two BEA cards to max out this promotion OK.

Not OT - cos I still earn my usual $8/mile offer. But as a cash promotion I won't update my best earn rates list.

i think it's just me but i do last minute holiday shopping quite often (esp without other friends). AM makes good option then. especially (gf and) i dont like to stay in the city where most packages are.

Citibank Visa Platinum
just received latest offer
spend HKD 76k between 20/7/11 to 19/8/11 and earn up to 10,000 extra miles
1 Asiamile for every HK$ 4 local spending and HK$ 2 overseas spending !

Citibank is good with free auto crediting to Asiamiles account whereas HSBC etc charge yearly for this service Rewards -to - Asiamiles and also charge each time you transfer miles across.

1. Citibank Visa Platinum - you mean Citibank Premiermiles (in HK, Premiermiles has always been Visa Platinum) or Citibank Rewards (the replacement card for Citibank (core) Platinum Visa)?

Citibank Premiermiles is transfer fee-free, but Citibank Rewards incurs $50 transfer fee per 5,000 miles redeemed http://www.citibank.com.hk/global_do...p09.pdf#page=3

2. The offer you received - is it minimum spending $76,000 and maximum reward 10,000 mile?

$76,000 / $4 local spending per mile = 19,000 miles, $76,000 / $2 overseas spending per mile = 38,000 mile - both more than 10,000.

3. HSBC only charges for yearly access, not every time you transfer http://www.hsbc.com.hk/1/2/hk/cards/...pwscmd=mileage

You mean 40 RewardCash not HKD 40?

Each transfer must be of a minimum of $40 RewardCash.

HSBC Plat Advance Card

I have no idea whether the 76k is for me or for everyone as I do not see other people's mail.

"The Conversion rate is $1 RewardCash to 15 miles.

Mileage programme Cardholders must transfer a minimum of $40 RewardCash from their accounts each time a transfer is made to any participating airline's frequent flyer programme account"

Err...RewardCash to an HSBC HK credit card account are like bonus points on other cards like Premiermiles - HSBC doesn't have bonus points any more (abolished 2010).

If they don't charge RewardCash or the annual fee on a mile redemption then they'd be charging nothing at all.

"Cardholder earn $1 RewardCash for every HK$ 250 spent "

so for every transfer to Asiamiles the cost is minimum 40 RewardCash x HK$ 250 spening (=$10k spending on the card)

Yeah, but you're getting 600 miles for your 40 RewardCash (40 x 15 miles/RewardCash).

That's not a fee - that's a minimum transfer requirement - similar to Citibank Premiermiles min 6,000pt transfer/DBS min 12,000pt(or 48 DB$) transfer.
