CX has a shortage of aircraft as do many airlines at the moment.

majorpuppy Jun 25, 2024 5:43 am

all of a sudden CX has increased flights to many places.

all of the US, CHC, BNE, and RUH and regional destinations.

maybe it shows CX's pilot shortage is starting to turn a bit better, but I could be wrong.

Did some random search on CX’s European routes in NW24:

ZRH 1 daily (from 4 weekly)
MAN 6 weekly (from 4 weekly)
MXP 5 weekly (from 4 weekly)
MAD 4 weekly (from 3 weekly)

It appears that the NW24 timetable has been updated.

AKL is now scheduled 7/7 (it was 7/7 last winter but had only been loaded as 4/7 until now). Several short and medium-haul destinations have received additional frequencies, among other changes.

And ironically I'm taking a trip that involves flying HKG-CPH and then BCN-HKG. Really missing that CPH flight and the frequency from BCN is still bad at 3x/week (and double the price of QR)...still lots of room to improve on Europe.

Cathay capacity to Europe was only 55.8% of that in May 2019, lowest percentage of all the regions including China.

Agree CPH is great airport that offers so much options for EU travel. At least it avoid those stupid J tax of LHR which is pure robbery in daylight.

its ok Emirates will fly me to Oslo and retun from Stockholm to match my cruise itinery. Cathay can keep working on hei Middle East Belt and Road destinations

Interesting. Does that include the UK? London's already effectively back to 5x daily.

majorpuppy Jun 26, 2024 7:20 am

cathay had a daily LGW as well so I think it counts

Must do. Unless they include in N America, Africa, Middle East or Asia. They appear, in their wisdom, to include Isreal in Europe rather than the Middle East.

3 weekly to CNS confirmed with A330. Looks like it was subsidies that made CX resume this

Looks like there's going to be slightly less capacity to Europe this July than last July. Some days to LHR only have 3 flights, and flights to AMS and FRA aren't daily throughout the month.

A330 makes sense I suppose this is not a premium-heavy destination.

Looks like the QLD government gave them a sweet deal this time...
Now that CX has used up all of the 70 slots weekly they can finally prevent HX from starting OOL flights, lol...
(27 SYD 21 MEL 10 BNE 7 PER 5 CNS)

70 weekly cap only applies to SYD MEL PER BNE. Other ports are not constrained. By the way CX adds more PER flights to 11 weekly. 28 SYD 21 MEL 10 BNE 11 PER = 70
