As we feared, it does seem to be a problem for side sleepers like me or when turning while in bed |

Found a clear pic re the footwell situation..

The same poster has another IG story that reads: My height is 183cm and there's not enough space for my feet after lying down. Foot space is tight, when I move my body around my legs keep bumping into all directions. P.S. please excuse my mediocre English. |

Yep, and JPA also confirmed to me there's not a bit of Airtek in this - it's entirely 100% conventional - so whatever blogger/s were out so early claiming Cathay's new business class was Airtek were not at all on the money.
Not the worst idea in the world - it’s a known quantity. |

Kind of disapppinting
same as current A350 seat but with much less legroom. 2 steps forward and 1 step back should have done the same as NH/JL Make a much wider seat with more legroom |

my overall thoughts are that its nice and modern with some cool features, but the main problem is this seat is practically just another 2020s style business class with predictable features that every airline is doing, even a similar trailer style. The reason why the room and Qsuite is good is because they didn't follow the same boring trends. CX relied on the legspace and retractable TV for an iconic business class.
at the very least, CX economy/ premium economy is still outstanding and definitely knocks down a lot of other airlines. |

Why can "they" not understand many people are not interested in a giant screen stuck in their face while everybody likes space to attain their favourite position for sleep? Sleeping comfort should be paramount in seat design.

I think some of the comments upthread are very apt. It's not an innovative product (it looks almost identical to stuff on market today, with custom finishes) and the silly name "Aria" adds to the confusion, but it still looks sleek and nice and new. If I'm putting a positive spin on it, as I mentioned some posts above, I think one of the lesser-mentioned realities is that CX's two middles in Cirrus J - no matter how great the legroom is, aren't ideal for singles. Maybe it was okay to have that little privacy with a seatmate 10 and even 5 years ago, but CX is now competing in Asia with products from SQ, JAL, ANA, and now this new airline Starlux which are all superior in terms of individual privacy. I flew Starlux earlier this year to LA, once in J and once in F. (F is in the biz class cabin!). From what I can tell from pictures, this new CX "Aria" is basically Starlux J. Here's a psitive or negative depending on your situation. We were booked in J round-trip but decided to pay for F upgrade on the return, since it was me Mrs. QRC and our infant, and the two J seats middles were just really useless for the two of us managing infant. If you're a family with infant and buying just 2 seats, Starlux J (=CX "Aria") middles not great for communication between the two seats at all. You have like a slat you open and that's it. Starlux F is like an upgraded J class and the two middles are excellent for communication and travel together if you wish to raise the barrier, very convenient. But if you're a solo traveler, like I know a lot of CX biz travelers are, then this is great news. Gone will be the days when you felt screwed for booking last minute and getting stuck with a middle J. It's still very private. I guess if I have one big question about this Aria for those who have already seen/flown it, it will be how is the privacy barrier between the two D/G middles? |
