Is it true that the 77As (the ones with F) will not go under the knife?
Vivian Lo held two brief Q&A sessions – one for Chinese-language media, the other for international English-speaking media (I'm told there were ~100 media tonight) and while I can't speak for what may have been shared in the Chinese-language briefing, when I asked her about this in our briefing she indicated the 77As would still be converted to Aria but (as she's stated before) they'd be at the back of the queue to provide 'crossover' with the new 777-9s to retain "a core network of first class.... there will be less flex but there still be a core operation." FYI, was told (not by Vivian) the revised 777-9 delivery timeframe is 1H26, CX is #50 in the queue with LH as launch customer, but once the 777-9s gets certified there's a very large batch of 'em ready to go, so it'll almost be like turning on the hose. |

agreed but geometrically based on how the seat is designed that would be impossible, directly behind the TV is the enclosed storage cabinet for the seat in front of you so there really is no space for it to “retract” or move back anywhere.
The foundation of the seat seems to be based on the newer Collins Elements but heavily customised for CX, structurally by design the screens cannot be retracted because that’s how they’ve managed to fit everything and is the typical layout for these collins seats, probably not even a configuration option. If they really want the TV screens to be retractable (similar to current one) then it would mean choosing an entirely different seat design to begin with. |
im glad they are some innovative things like the bathroom status feature, and the new IFE looks very convenient and you can seemingly go to anywhere with one click, and it isn't only doors + wireless charging+ Bluetooth. its very nice. with this, I'm sure SQ would have to respond sometime soon.
i kinda wished they used curtains (maybe not full-height ones) just like AF instead of doors, there could potentially be a lot more space to widen the seat and footwell. |

by comparison I now feel the design of current generation business class seat is so damn smart...doesn't really have the common drawbacks of reverse herringbone seats, they must be so revolutionary when first introduced.

I agree. Apart from the 777 IFE and lack of privacy partitions, it is a damn good product. Yes it doesn’t have gimmicks such as doors or double beds but it does the job. Not bad for an outdated product.

i think if they used curtains (maybe not full-height ones) just like AF instead of doors, there would be far more space, no footwell problem and the privacy would remain the same. do you mean that with the original design (retractable TV), a door cannot be installed? |

Is that CX needs to wait for at least the second fleet becomes 77J (like B-KQT) for deploying to longer flights ?

The brand is 'Waken'. Unpacked CX amenity kit shown. No idea if this kit will be exclusive to Aria or across the fleet.

Found a clear pic re the footwell situation..
https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...27970c7f8.jpeg Not a fan of such cramped legroom...feels claustrophobic even though it might not be that tight. In contrast, NH new J has huge legroom and feels like a F seat. The left side angled wall might be a problem for people with longer legs who want to stretch out. The bulkhead seats are gonna be very popular as those will prob have much more legroom, similar to the AF seats |

Every first-time Aria flyer will be wondering this! Once you get it, though, it's elegant simplicity. There's a 'lever' built into and just under the leading edge of the armrest (by memory I think it pokes out just a smidge so as to provide a subtle visual clue) – you gently press this and the armrest moves up and into position as an armrest, or it drops down and moves outwards until it becomes a flat surface to effectively extend the width of the bed (or seat) at that point. It's a very smooth continuous range of movement.
