As at mid Nov 2021, a SP told me on flight that CX cabin crew were divided into two groups: one group doing only same-day return trips and no need to quarantine when returning to HK. Another group doing multiple-day trips and they need to quarantine in Hong Kong when they complete their tour.

Indeed. But even if they do same-day return, they are in contact with potential pax cases on the return trip. I wonder what is the current isolation policy for them upon their return and whether it will be stricter following the recent demands for opening of the Chinese border.

One guy arriving via QR818 on 24/11 , who was transiting, was stuck at HKG airport due to visa issue.
he did a pre-departure test on 27/11 at the airport and was confirm positive with the omicron.
so for 3 days he was at the transit area. How many people he will come into contact with ?
I think in the first place, he should not have allow to board QR818, since he does not have documentation to enter the 3rd country.

seem like HKG might really ban transit.

Let's face it: it is getting very difficult to fly to/from Hong Kong.
CX is forced to cancel many longhaul flights and retain a skeleton schedule for the foreseeable future.
Hardly any European airlines left. AF cancelled its December flights and will not resume the route. LX decided to stop flying to HK. LH stopped flying, but is considering a reroute via BKK (like KL). BA stopped and considering options. AY is the only airline flying nonstop from Europe , but is reducing frequency. KL flies via BKK. The ME airlines are frequently suspended (EK stops in BKK when they fly).
From America, only AC flies (with stop in ICN).
One can also transit on Asian airlines like SQ and KE.
Transit flights will be made more difficult if HK Government shortens to PCR test period (say from 72 to 48 or 24).
For those having to fly back to HK the situation is nightmarish with the full Q hotel situation.
It has become hell to travel from/to Hong Kong.

Unfortunately I am not senior enough to post links or image, so unfortunately cant post the direct links.
But basically, in the main Cathay Pacific homepage (the first landing page for Cathay Pacific) where you see the heading page of " The latest COVID 19 Information and Updates", there are two dots. The first goes into your link (you are correct, it is not listed on that page), However if you click on the second dot, it will show Hong Kong Transit Information - Find Out More..
With effect from 8 December 2021, all passengers travelling from overseas places and Taiwan for transit at Hong Kong, are required to present a medical certificate indicating a negative COVID-19 test result, the test must be taken within 72 hours of the scheduled departure time of the flight to Hong Kong.
Passengers will be able to transit through Hong Kong if:

CX have cancelled a number of SYD-HKG flight these few days. And many paxes are left behind at SYD airport because CX told the paxes very last min to board the flight one day earlier.
Many paxes can’t get the PCR test in time and they also have trouble to revise their quarantine hotel booking to one day earlier.
and even for those flights that go on, CX have revised the timing as well.

Strange that CX canx 7 Dec SYD-HKG but there're two HKG-SYD flights on 6 Dec still selling.
