I can only hope that is true. If 60 people survived this crash its actually a miracle. When I first saw the pictures I didnt expect anyone to survive.

I am however surprised that the flight is still on fire one hour later. I used to be an airport fireman in the military and didnt think it would take that long to put out a fire. The AF flight was also landing so I wouldnt expect much petrol in it or?

Eye Witness on CNN reports that the plane broke in half and only the back is visible on the cams a.t.m.

Travel Advisory for Flights to and from Toronto today

http://www.aircanada.com/en/news/travel_advisory2.html

TORONTO, August 2, 2005 - Air Canada advises that severe thunderstorm activity in the Toronto area this afternoon is resulting in numerous delays and the cancellations of flights arriving and departing Toronto. It is recommended that customers with flights to and/or from Toronto for the balance of the afternoon and evening check on the status of their flight prior to leaving for the airport by consulting the Air Canada web site at aircanada.com, or by calling Air Canada's automated flight information system at 1-888-422-7533, or by using a web-enhanced cell phone.

Customers with flights affected by the electrical storm who wish to make alternate travel arrangements can do so without penalty, space permitting, through Air Canada Reservations at 1-888-247-2262; TTY: 1-800-361-8071.

Maybe on their site. The TV anchor (don't know who it is) stated he is a pilot and said he outright discounts the reports of a 737 if it's Air France. This was while CNN was still reporting a LH 737

Reports of survivors are good. Hopefully they keep coming.

I REALLY REALLY hope that people are OK- I used to take this flight all the time- have been woken up here in Sydney by several calls from good friends thinking I am on this flight as I have had heavy travel lately- my prayers to those on-board to be OK.

The AC advisory likely out prior to the crash. I included it here to maybe partly explained the cause of the crash, which was speculated as a lightning strike.
