Keep those reports of no fatalities coming! Man, that would be incredible if it holds true.

CBS reports there were no fatalities and 241 passengers aboard were evacuated.

CBS Radio reports that Air France Flight 358 left Paris at 1:32pm local time and was supposed to land at 4:12pm in Toronto.

I highly doubt that given the circumstances but if true that AF crew deserves the world's praise.

New Eyewitness now on CTV...saying she saw a fork of lightning hit something (wasn't sure it was a plane), then 30 seconds after that, through the billowing smoke everywhere, they could see a plane.

She's also saying that she saw flames on the runway.

The talking head on CBC (or talking jackass) just commented lightning causes no problems for planes cause they have rubber tires. No effect on the aircraft at all. I can't believe this guy.

MSN.com has live video and little else one can say looking at it than OMG and to pray for those on board. Hard to imagine people walking away from tht, but if they did that flight crew is owed one huge amount of praise.

What's with the morons stopping on the hiway should and rubber-necking? Maybe a major hiway crash would make things better?

From this article on thestar.com: http://www.thestar.com/NASApp/cs/Con...2154&t=TS_Home

According to Lee Romanov, who was interviewed on CP24 after receiving a phone call from a friend who was on the plane, the jet made a big drop in altitude before coming in for a very rough landing.

Romanow said passengers exited the plane on emergency chutes.

Seems as though all passengers were evacuated. Some ended up on 401. Pilot and some others taken to hospital.

So it looks like lightning brought the plane down and caught on fire? Any updates on casualties/survivors?

The thick black smoke appears to have dissipated.

CTV now showing pictures of the fire from 1635 est, and it appears that the fire was in the last 1/3 of the plane (near where the tail meets the plane). Also fire coming from where the wings meet the plane.
