I just spoke to my brother who is on an arriving AC plane from YVR into YYZ. They have kept the passengers on the aircraft for a couple hours due to the electrical storm. They obviously haven't explained the situation clearly, because he has no idea why that would mean the aircraft couldn't pull up to a gate.

Anyhow, he said that he smells smoke and the FA told people that it is an Air France plane that circled as a result of the storm and finally had to land and was given permission to do so. According to the FA, the runway is so wet that it hydroplaned off the end.

It's sad. 20 years to the day that a DL plane crashed in DFW due to wind shear.

Latest reports show the entire fuselage on fire and the plane is sitting with the tail sticking up. Pray for those souls on board. If anyone emerges from this inferno it will be a miracle.

Anyone else watching Newsworld and listening to the jackass talking - Joseph D'Cruz the "expert". Gee, it crashed cause the pilot landed too far on the runway - totally pilot error in his words... also given the advances in today's aircraft today, this should never happen.

CTV seems to have the best reporting of this. I haven't seen an ambulance move at all. Looks like 401 westbound collectors are closed and express are really backed up.

CFRB radio is apparently reporting that there are survivors. They are reporting that a girl/woman aboard the flight called her uncle from the ground saying she was ok and that she thinks there are other survivors. She said the fire started in the middle of the plane and she was near the front.

I didn't see any signs of life on the EYES MTO shots, but hopefully it's true.

A MOD should update the title.

It looks very serious, I hope for the best for everyone on board.
